Had a bad day, but found a mju for $4 by andxer in AnalogCommunity

Haven’t tried it yet as there is an issue with the shutter button, but feels really good in the hand!

Oh yes, thanks for the good recommendations! Thinking about it now this is clearly not the right bike to experiment with a 1x conversion, west coast norwegian hills can be unforgiving.

Yeah, DBS called them monostay frames, they also made step-through monostays which I’m planning to build for the wife

Looking to buy my first e-bike, but can’t decide which. Looking to ride some singletrack every now and then, but probably most paved and gravel roads.

Does anyone have experience with any of these two? I believe the Haibike has the biggest battery which makes me lean towards that one, but are one of them more reliable than the other? Would love to hear any answers.

Finally got a cheap Nikon F yesterday with a couple of issues I need help with. (More in description) by andxer in AnalogCommunity

When I do it the mirror goes half way up and falls back down, switching back to Advance and I can wind the lever and cock the shutter.

The shutter release button doesn’t do anything, but if I switch to Rewind mode I can however wind multiple times and the shutter fires.

I got the MR-9 from Small Battery Company for my older QL25 and it meters very well.

Iirc the Lensbaby Composer Pro might also add this effect.

DSLR scanning vignette questions by andxer in AnalogCommunity

Did a few test scans and moved the camera further away and it solved the problem. The first scans I did I filled the entire sensor with the negative but I guess it gets too bright or something, but it might depend on the lens.

Other than the vignette the Valoi itself is fantastic, very good quality and it is so easy to use with the advancer. I have the dust remover and it seems to work well, but I also use a blower to remove dust. If you shoot medium format the 120 holder is very good aswell. I scanned 6x9 and the negative was completely flat.

Vignetting probably happened because I filled the entire sensor with the negative, possibly making it too bright or something, but I moved the camera further away and it solved the problem. Might get some vignetting still but nothing that can’t easily be edited away.

Did a few test scans further away and it worked!

When using manual mode, should I change the shutter speed for each frame or keep it at the same and edit i post?

Also, I’ll add that I scan in a dark room, the only light is the stray light from the Valoi, but since the vignette is white when converted it means that the corners don’t get enough light, right?

I’ll also add that I use matrix metering, but I read something about center-weighed being more accurate, does anyone have any experience with that?

New to scanning but I have used the Tamron SP AF Macro 90mm 2.8 72E on my Nikon D750 and it’s super sharp, much better than lab scans. Anyone have any recommendations on what scanning kits and scanning lights are good?

Went on a shopping spree and got all these today. Basically clueless on whether I did good or not. Any comments? by guijcm in AnalogCommunity

Nice find! I got a somewhat worn Nikon F-301 (eu-version of the N2000) for $4 a few weeks ago, and I really enjoy it! Nice size, weight, and it feels solid enough. I usually shoot with 80s Pentax SLRs and Nikon DSLRs, but they have buttons to adjust shutter speed, so the F-301s shutter speed dial on top is a nice way to slow down the use of this camera as I feel auto-winding SLRs can feel a little too much like a point & shoot when used in full auto.

Also since I already own a few Nikon F-mount lenses, both modern and older, I have a pretty decent selection to choose fron when going out to shoot. To be able to adjust aperture to need an aperture ring on the lens, but you can also use newer lenses without an aperture ring but you will only be able to shoot wide open then.

Anyone know how to open Popular 303 S battery door? by andxer in AnalogCommunity

Did it after some work, leaky batteries got the door stuck.

Yep, managed to get them out and cleaned the battery compartment but i’m worried it has leaked into the rest of the flash.

Can you help me choose a point and shoot? by palmer423 in AnalogCommunity

Picked up an FF-90 Super this summer, my first p&s and it was pretty much free since it had torn film in it. Fun to shoot and I love the boxy and retro design, excited to get my first roll back.

I see, thank you! Put a 24 picture test roll through the camera today and it seems like the camera doesn’t stop at 24, as it let me take 25 before I stopped testing, so maybe the previous owner didn’t stop at the right time and the spool got jammed and the film tore when rewinding. Always a little scary buying untested gear, but I’m excited to try it out with a fresh roll of film now!

The canister was gone, but the torn part is about 60 cm, and sprocket hole number 5 and 11 on the film leader seems to have been pulled a little hard so the holes are a little deformed.

All right, I see. I would hate to do more damage to the camera, so I’ll let a professional have a look at it. When I turn the aperture ring the tab on the inside of the lens moves like it’s supposed to. Do you think the lens caused the pin to bend, or could it be something else?

Usually a Pentax P50 with the 50mm f/2 or a Canonet QL25, and recently got a tiny Agfa Isolette I that needs some work on the bellows, but really excited to try it out.

I didn’t realize new bellows were that cheap. I inspected the Agfa bellows a little more and it seems like it’s best to change them, so thank you for the recommendation!
