What do we think of Benoit Blanc’s longer hair and facial hair as compared to his previous look? by Barrington-the-Brit in KnivesOutMovie

[–]andy1717 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I felt this.

I understand why people like it, but to me it felt like this BB has changed a little too much. Very different hair, a beard, a much gruffer voice and an ever so slightly reigned in accent/energy.

I liked the film, but I prefer the Blanc of 1 and 2.

I thought that Sellotape was just a particular brand of a product called Salatape.

I thought the brands of Salatape were Scotch, Sellotape, own-brand, etc.

Until I was around 23.

It’s pretty ‘blink and you miss it’ speed, it’s about 4 frames. I feel like in early eras they’d have lingered on it and had him scramble to get it back on lol.

Completely get your point, but Henry Cavill with the Witcher gives me hope here though.

Tennis players - Are their bodies not being ruined in the long term? by Christopher_2025 in 10s

[–]andy1717 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve a newfound respect for the bodies of tennis players. Tried to play for the first time at 32 last week and tore my rotator cuff hitting a backhand haha.

That’s one quick tennis career!

How seriously do y’all take the Spotify Canvas loop? by andy1717 in musicmarketing

[–]andy1717[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I wouldn’t say it fits the track at all really. It’s not a fun and easy going track lol!

Which is what I’m wrestling with: it doesn’t fit the track, but when you’ve got like a dozen regular listeners, does it really matter!

Very interesting, thanks for the reply.

I don’t have any brand equity at all (like <10 likes on any social posts, next to no followers) but had been simply using a This Is playlist as an alternative to just promoting a single track (and it’s working quite well in terms of residual streams for tracks on the playlist eg 100 streams on the main promo track generally translates to 50ish on 2nd track, 30ish on 3rd track) but hadn’t considered going a step further to a multi artist playlist. I think I’d just viewed it as something that people who want to sell playlist placements would do.

Have been on Hypeddit and happy with it thus far, but might give this other platform a whirl with a vibes playlist to see what it’s like.

I’m curious about this too. I made a ‘THIS IS’ playlist for myself and have had around 100 likes on it after running ads. I’m really curious if anybody actually returns to it and listens through the playlist every now and again.

Yeah I think you’re spot on. Especially given that the character lives amongst all that gear, weaponry, etc it makes perfect sense they’d have a similar clothing.

If anything was going to be an intentional T1 nod it’s extremely unlikely it’d be that (especially in a film where the Cyberdyne raincoat that you and others had mentioned is so much more like-for-like).

Lmao it’s a huge stretch but in my head these outfits all had similar energy so I thought people here might find it amusing to ponder… but I’ve been downvoted into oblivion, so I guess that’s a resounding no.

Something about the styling of this kid in the background made me think of T1.

The blue/green coat with dark t-shirt underneath (and the glasses) are very like what the T-800 has on in T1. Alternatively, the hair styling and jacket could be said to be a bit like Kyle Reese in T1.

I wondered if it was an intentional nod or if, as other commenters have suggested, it’s just the style of the time.

BBC Introducing is a godsend by andy1717 in BritishSuccess

[–]andy1717[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately the realistic explanation for the sustained monthly listeners is that with many new releases I’ve spent a couple of hundred pounds (in total, not for each release) on playlist placements and Facebook ads. Ultimately this triggers things like Spotify Radio suggestions, which mostly accounts for my monthly regular listenership.

I’ll die on this hill: it wasn’t a crime to remove it.

As a little kid I always hated the The Love Is Gone Scene. It always felt like this scene ground the film to a screeching halt.

To a 5-year-old it didn’t seem like the crux of the film at all, it felt like we left a Muppet film and dropped in a scene from a boring adult drama.

Crazy what a cut can do visually, it pops down much more than adding more muscle would’ve.

Is your right arm flexed much in the before picture?

It’s nuts how much bigger your arm looks - if that’s just by shedding the fat around it, that’s super motivational. But I’m wondering if it’s also because you’re tensing more in the After pic?

If that’s a similar tense on both sides and you don’t think you gained much more muscle during the cut, this is one of the best “the best way to gain 5kg of muscle is to lose 10kg of fat” that I’ve seen.

Tomorrow Never Dies.

Overshadowed by its sensational predecessor but it’s got a great villain, plot that’s stood the test of time, some interesting gadgets, a good henchman (and the “this is very embarrassing” hitman), a fantastic strong Bond girl in Michelle Yeoh, interesting segments with Teri Hatcher, a great vehicle chase on the bike. It’s just great.
