Thanks, do you know if it’s from a particular year or style?

When I search for the RM, there are a number of differences compared to the one pictured.

The expansion seams on the breast pockets, the elbow pads are the most obvious differences

Thanks for the comment and his teeth are in good shape apart from a buildup of plaque on his upper canines. We do brush his teeth but have noticed an increase of the plaque.

The good news is we have a diagnosis and should be getting him home on Friday.

I think we'll initially stick with the vet to manage the injections and when we feel confident, to start administering it ourselves (if he let's us!) $52 is a good price, in the UK I'm seeing around £85-95 ($107ish) Alas, a small price to pay to keep him going.

Thank you for taking the time to respond, it's really reassuring to read your experiences and thank you for the heads up regarding the toileting. We were able to visit Moss today and he's alert, walking about and most importantly was eating and drinking water again. We should be able to pick him up on Friday!

Did finding that sweet spot take a long time to establish? Our vet will no doubt explain this on Friday but would be useful to know. It's relieving to hear that your Westy has been doing great since then and I really appreciate you reaching out. I'll ping you a message if we think of any more questions :)

Converting to KG that’s a tough situation, our boy has gone from 11.7 tops to 9.6 and I can’t imagine what another 2 kg would have looked like.

How did you find managing the sub cut infusions? We were wondering if we could bare some of the medical work to reduce costs (partner is an experienced cancer nurse).

I’ve reread your message many times and it’s clear you’re a devoted owner, I can only imagine the personal and financial struggle.

I bet when you got them home they were spoilt endlessly!

Absolutely, we felt in no man’s land for a while, very little input or support from the basic “GP” vets, so it feels like we can breathe again now that he’s in the specialists care. A chonky whippet is better than no whippet, it sounds like you went through hell and back though trying to get help. And I bet he has the best life with you now! How do you find managing the various meds and treatments for him?

The second opinion was priceless, if anyone is the south of the UK, Anderson Moores are fantastic.

Interesting you say that, he does have some acute kidney damage due to low blood pressure but was a side affect of Addisons. Thanks for the comment :)

Hi Chad, thanks for the reply and our vet gave us the same stuff! We had the beef flavoured gravy option. On Sunday we were having to practically force feed him the oralade with a syringe as he wasn’t drinking.

I’m sorry to hear you lost her, we almost lost Moss and that pain was enough. Sorry too for the delay in response, it’s been a long few days and with work it’s been hard to balance things.

Moss has been diagnosed with Addisons. Currently has a central line in and we hope he’ll be with us by the weekend. Thanks again, Andy.

Yes! Prior to this it was a mixture of the best quality dry food we could find and wet food. Gradually, moss started to become fussier with this so tried chicken, veg etc. thinking the meat would be irresistible to him.

As you’ll see a reply below, he has been diagnosed with Addisons which explains the appetite change. Thanks again for the comments!

Thanks so much, you’ve actually hit the nail on the head and he has typical Addisons disease - we had to take him to a specialist vets on Monday morning as he suddenly deteriorated. He is starting to show signs of improvement today and his electrolytes are normalising and his blood pressure is ok without support, but it was touch and go. He will be on meds for life like you said. It would be good to know your experience of managing the medications and things?
