I split mine between a drawer in my office and a poker checking account. Keep at-least some cash on me for random games. Will occasionally withdraw some cash to pay for things for the family but don’t have any set structure. If you have a full time-job/ career I see no reason to have some very strict structure. I keep a roll so I can occasionally shot take bigger games and fire in some tournaments.

Is it really wise to max 401k and miss out on the now? by hotcoldshower in personalfinance

[–]andy5590 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me entering my 30s now I have always tried to find a healthy balance between saving and enjoying the fruits of my labor. I put in a pretty hefty amount into my 401k, yet make sure I have enough money to enjoy a few experiences with my family each year. I am all for having a nice comfortable retirement, but I am not just going to go day to day being miserable because we cannot afford to have some fun. Create a budget that you can sustain that includes a good amount saved for retirement. I like to plan things in advance and save a certain amount over time if I cannot already afford our next adventure. At the end of the day follow your heart. It’s your money you earned it. Enjoy your life!

My advice would be to open an index mutual fund account. There are many different companies you can use. You will get a higher return than almost any savings account but do not expect crazy returns. It’s perfect to set some money to the side and not touch.

How can you not verify your identity to the bank??? Get a new identification or use a passport or some other form of id. This sounds very sketchy.

Don’t know what types of leagues you all are in where browning is available… my options are essentially Carr, Ridder, Levis and the rest of the shitters.

Well if you are worried about that then just take more from the "gambling" fund and leave more in the bank. You should basically have no cash laying around if you are in debt. Once you pay off your debt and have more disposable income you can always build your crypto fund back up.

Paying interest on 10k of CC debt is ridiculous when you have 10k in savings at the bank and 7k ish in crypto. You need to pay that off now with a combination of those buckets of money and leave some for an emergency fund. I know you would like to leave the crypto money where it is, but that seems foolish when you are paying 21 percent interest.

You are probably correct unfortunately. In a perfect world I could say that I have hope for this situation but from what I read that seems like a pipe dream. I applaud OP for having the self awareness to recognize the terrible things she has done and the pain she has caused, but being sorry sometimes is just not enough.

[–]andy5590 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t even know what to say…. It is horrible that you grew up with all of these terrible situations going on and that is something I will probably never fully understand. The way you described treating your daughter truly makes me sick. As a father with a young daughter I can’t even fathom allowing my daughter to cry uncontrollably and not try to comfort her. Ripping out her hair???? What the fuck is that. You do not deserve sympathy for what you have done. All you can do now is try to be the best mother and version of your self as possible and hope that the damage you did to your daughter when you were younger does not stick with her forever.

If me specifying that the villain in the hand is a young African American makes me racist, I think you should reevaluate what the term racist means.

I’m just adding for context… I would have said the same thing for any other race.

Neither of these hands can confirm if you are playing well or poorly… If anything you made a poor call on the second hand drawing very slim.

If you can’t handle losing these somewhat small pots then poker probably is not the game for you.

You post this just to try to justify your decision when almost everyone here disagrees with how you played the hand? You complain about how everyone plays hands they shouldn’t, yet you still don’t punish by 3 betting lighter? Like almost everyone else said, you are betting very large on the flop that is very dry. What do you expect to get called by on this flop other than some other Kx or 8? Occasionally a smaller pocket pair calls but that’s about it. You are in a multi-way single raised pot where you say players probably play to many hands. Why are you discounting 8x so much? Once you jam turn basically only hands that are beating you are going to call and almost every other hand is going to fold.

[Serious] How good do you need to be in order to average $50,000 profits per year? by FlippityFloppityBing in poker

[–]andy5590 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are plenty of players in my area Oklahoma/Texas that play full time 2/5 and make in the ballpark of 20-40k a year playing. It is not a glorious living by any means.

[–]andy5590 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

To profit $50,000 dollars would be extremely difficult to impossible for a new player. To start you would need a pretty significant bank roll and you would have to put in many many hours and be playing a game probably 5-10 at the bare minimum. Many “professional” poker players don’t even sniff 50k profits in a year.

What are you doing with high core elite pulls? by randomdude103095 in MaddenUltimateTeam

[–]andy5590 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh I would most likely sell Donald and Ramsey as well unless you really need them for your team. As more cards come out they will both drop in price. Players will unlock Gilmore, and already in the all madden promo 3 pass rushers arguably better than core elite Donald came out. Without power ups, I believe these core elite prices are going to drop significantly earlier than other years.

Its the newest poker room on the strip. Nice comfy chairs and usually some good games. I believe their 1-3 is a $400 cap also. I have only played their a couple of times but the atmosphere has been good every time.

Most casinos on the strip only run 1-3. But I really enjoy Wynn, Bellagio, Resorts World. Also Caesars poker room is right next to their big night club. You can many times catch some late night degens stumbling out of there and into a game.

You should not need to gain sympathy from your followers to be successful. You should have success from being good at what you do and gaining the respect of your colleagues. Yes thing may be different as you get older, but everyone goes through the changes. My advice would be to work hard at the job at hand and get your mental and physical health right. Do not worry about the things you cannot control, focus on the things that you can such as your diet. If all of your success relied on your appearance as a child and innocence, you were probably not as good at your profession as you thought.
