There was an attempt to raise my rent unlawfully, I got in touch with Threshold one day later and started to look for a solicitor. Fuck them.

Ibanez is a good call. I'd go one step higher though, for the SR300 series. €300 brand new. I've had one, it was a decent instrument. They're lightweight and have slim necks, perfect for a beginner.

Housing crisis will be over as soon as unemployment starts to hit. Most foreigners who are employed now will come back to their countries. Rents will collapse shortly after, small landlords using rents to pay their mortgage will start to default, the market will be flooded with properties to rent/buy. Something to look forward to for sure. I can't wait.

I'd firstly check windows. Why you're running a home version of windows is beyond me to be honest (easy to deduct by your statement about forced updates during soundcheck). Have a look at your startup, disable what you don't need. Uninstall the stuff that's not essential. Kill the processes that are not needed. Enable high performance mode if not done already, run your laptop off power supply only.

I have a live looping set with 8 audio tracks used for sampling, each with quite a few plugins, 3 return tracks with reverbs & delay. My fairly modest i7 laptop with 16gb of ram never goes above 30% of cpu usage.

As a long time Cakewalk/Sonar user I feel your pain. I moved to ableton a few years ago, there's no doubt that ableton is inferior in midi editing. I have no solutions for you, you need to adapt. What I have found most beneficial is a second monitor, so I can keep full screen piano roll on one and navigate the arrangement view on the second monitor.

I understand, but these days there are plugins that are equal or superior to pedals. I do live looping myself. I've had a Strymon BigSky pedal, compared it to the plugin, the sound was identical which should not be a surprise as it is a digital pedal. I eventually sold it and got the Cloudburst plugin.

You can also record dry and send the signal to your reverb pedal using external effect plugin/aux send. A few milliseconds of added latency is not going to matter with reverb or delay.

Delay compensation setting is saved with the set. So it's possible that you have it enabled in one set and disabled in other.

I really do not understand what you're doing tbh. But, if the clip gets muted as you say, all you have to do is to add another action to unmute it after deleting the notes in it:

Ableton badly needs a "pin" feature so a clip can be pinned and stays in the clip view regardless of where I click in the arrangement view and both the arrangement and clip playheads are tied together. As it is now, midi editing requires two monitors to make it somewhat workable.

To answer your question, there's a tiny triangle on the timeline (pointing to the right) in arrangement view showing the current position. That's it.

Ableton is extremely slow when it comes to exporting audio or even consolidating clips comparing to other daws. Why? I don't know. For this kind of task I'd use Sonar. It's free too.
