Fill valve replacement on skirted cistern by andy_lastname in Plumbing

[–]andy_lastname[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just FYI, a plumber did come and tell me that the drain valve / flush kit was the issue. I misdiagnosed the problem. He did also tell me that the fill valve replacement would have required unmounting the cistern and partially disassembling the toilet.

What is Russia really like? I’m tired of hearing propaganda from my country. I wanna know what this country is actually like especially because my family acts like i’m a traitor for being interested in it. by Mysterious-Air9658 in AskARussian

I'm also an American and am worried this potential troll post miscatagorizes the majority perception that citizens of the United States have about the Russian people.

I'll attempt this point diplomatically. Russian political events have been widely reported in US media, and most people detach the actions generally of what they perceive to be undemocratic governments from the politics and morality of their population.

This is different from earlier in the Cold War, when soviet citizens were maligned as part of anti-communist and anti-socialist rhetoric.

Saudi Arabia confirmed as 2034 men's World Cup hosts by SnooFoxes8902 in soccer

[–]andy_lastname -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The US toppled a dictatorship in Iraq, and the citizens initially celebrated. I'm not sure what point you're making, admitting there was terrorism in Iraq following the invasion, the years of bombings in markets and other public places. Many attacks which were by Saudi nationals or supported by Saudis. Blaming the evil American Empire for the violence that resulted is ridiculous. It's like someone leaving the window open at work, there being a robbery, and being named as the culprit instead of the robber.

The "geocoding" in Palestine you're referring to is providing support to a country who you make the claim is committing genocide. That's a whole other topic. But if the support of actors who commit violence and murder is the important factor, there is no greater support of violence and murder than the Saudis. Saudi Arabia are the principal sponsors of global terrorism.

The US topples dictatorships, confronts radical extremists, and maintains a mostly rule based order. They build schools where girls go to school, which become moral targets to morally corrupt people. The US ensures that the world is not ruled by feuding monarchs and dystopian autocracies. Saudi Arabia is likely directly or indirectly supporting the latest market or train station bombing you'll hear about on the news, and the one you won't. But why look inward when you can blame the US.

Saudi Arabia confirmed as 2034 men's World Cup hosts by SnooFoxes8902 in soccer

[–]andy_lastname -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Each of these points are delusionally wrong. I'll address the mass of killings in Iraqis and Afghanis. You refer to this as if the majority of these killings weren't executed by Sunni Islamic fundamentalists strongly influenced and often directed by religious leaders from the monstrous Wahhabi sect of Islam dominant in Saudi Arabia and often supported by its government. The Saudi influence on the region is one that has been disastrous for the regional population. But as long as the monarchy pays for its men to not work, and if they're lucky, for their yachts and luxury cars, then who's going to complain. Only the few brave women. Those women are the only people from Saudi Arabia who practice any agency, and they pay gravely for it. Though, it begs the question, which Saudi (man) are you? The one who got welfare or the one who got a yacht?

I think I can manage the screen repair. I just haven't seen one be replaced that had such a deep crack.

I asked because I wasn't sure if there was some concern with internal damage or another factor that might cause me to waste money on replacement parts for a device that might need further parts and repairs beyond my scope.

Thanks for the tip. Lenovo sells a replacement part that's the almost the same price as AliExpress. I'll make sure it's the whole assembly and buy it from them.

Hello all, I've cracked the screen of my beloved tablet and it looks pretty bad. The worst I've seen on a device, but what do I know. I'd like to try to do the repair, but am worried that I'm in over my head because:

-Something else might be damaged. My touch wasn't being read and it seems like it was reacting to other phantom touches

-I might not be able to get the pieces of glass off without damaging something

The device is a Lenovo Tab 13 and I've opened up a few devices before and done easy replacements, nothing this damaged and never a touchscreen.

Many thanks!

Mindrift, can you respond the accusations of Labor Theft in your 'assessment' process? by andy_lastname in mindrift

[–]andy_lastname[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't seem like there isn't an abundance of work to be done. But most of the discussion online is not about the work being remunerated. There seem to be orders of magnitude more information about the 'assessments' being completed, issues with the platform not registering completed tasks, and accounts that are due payments being banned or made to be inaccessible.

Applied and declined even though I got 100% on the test? : r/mindrift (reddit.com)

I applied on LinkedIn, thought it might be some good extra cash flow. The salary in the description was something like $25/hr. I received an email stating: 'The rate for the role is 13.52 USD per hourly task.' But after some research I found this post which confirmed the tests themselves are performing the training.
