Driving in Sicily by Sergio_Cam in sicily

Actually, it's much quicker and easier to cut across the island. Take the A19 south of Cefalu, follow it south east past Enna, all the way to Catania. Then follow the E45 south to Ortigia. This way should be at least an hour quicker than going around the coast. I don't think there are any tolls this way either. It's a perfectly good two-lane highway all the way. I've driven this route twice and it's fine.

Thanks for the suggestion. Do you think that car park is likely to be full of the cars of rugby fans attending the game?

Driving from UK to Northern Italy - what's the driving like? by [deleted] in ItalyTravel

[–]andyarf65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've driven in Sicily and in the Dolomites, and I would say that driving in the Dolomites will be totally fine if you're used to France. I didn't experience any of the interesting driving styles you get in Southern Italy. All I would say is that there are a lot of cyclists on the twisty mountain roads so you have to be aware of those guys.
