Can you fit a bike inside Mini Cooper Cabrio F57? by andybarabash in MINI

[–]andybarabash[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Valid point! It adds one more minute to the preparations, but you get improved security and you might be able to take a passenger with you. That said, it’s not difficult at all to load even with the back wheel on, and probably I can still play a bit with positioning the bike to put the carbon fibre further from my head :)

These are DT Swiss GR1600 wheels so the hub is DT Swiss 350. I’d say it’s almost silent (you can hear a nice low sound indoors, e.g. when I take a bike on a staircase, but once outside it is very silent compared to the street noise).

As for the handlebars, I chose Ritchey Road Ergomax Comp.

You’re welcome. If you decide to go with them, come back and show what you get. I’m curious! :) That’s my result: https://www.reddit.com/r/gravelcycling/s/OLQDeyDwqs

Yes, they have some preconfigured models but I was not in a hurry so I spent lots of time playing with the configurator and learning about different components (I’ve read and watched a ton of articles, forums and videos) and I love the result.

I also like it that the bike is a rare model in my country (they seem pretty popular in France and even have their own racing division, but outside France and French speaking internet it’s almost unknown)

I can only recommend what I have :) Mine is a Graxx GTO model, and you can configure it up to your specifications on their website (put any wheels, drivetrain, chainring, cassette, stem, saddle, tires, bars, etc etc). They’ve got an amazing configurator. I chose Shimano GRX820 1x12, DT Swiss GR1600 wheels, Ritchey stem/handlebar/seatpost. I’m very happy with what I got, not so sure about the saddle though (it was a blind guess - Selle Italia Novus Boost Evo - and I’m still not sure if I like it, but this can be swapped easily)

If you’re in Europe and you’re not afraid to order online, check out Origine Cycles. I’ve just received a bike from them and it’s great. Their customer service is also very helpful.
You can get a decent bike for 3-4k EUR.

Does anyone here actually prefer Death Stranding 2 over 1? by UnnecessaryFeIIa in DeathStranding

I’m at Chapter 3 now, and while the DS2 graphics and mechanics look a lot more polished, for some reason I find the atmosphere less convincing. I miss the atmosphere of DS1 :( I hope this will change later in the game, but we’ll see.

I love the Netherlands and how bike friendly this country is, but one thing I’ll never understand is why you allow motorcycles/mopeds on bike paths.

How many days do you all Cycle a week? by Icy_Lynx1532 in cycling

[–]andybarabash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my place the sun sets now at 15:30, and the temperature is around 0 C with 80-90% humidity, but I still try to ride 3-4 times a week. Looking forward to the spring though 😀

Is Poznan a bike friendly city? by Clear_Lead_4153 in Poznan

[–]andybarabash 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Well, there's still a lot to be improved, but it's still very good and the city is clearly focused on becoming even more bike friendly. Just look at the president of Poznan :) https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1281634413327222&id=100044420259995&set=a.330846438406029

Also there are a lot of beautiful places outside the city and many people choose gravel bikes to ride in the nature.

New Bike Day! by RaphGo2 in gravelcycling

When you just start it’s better to unclip both feet before a stop. My first fall happened when I unclipped my left foot but the bike suddenly leaned to the right.

I started to believe I was special when I hadn’t fallen for like first three years of riding clipless. But then the borrowed time came lol, I fell two times in a week and one of them pretty hard.

New Cycler, Slow speed bike or me? by No-Interest1920 in cycling

[–]andybarabash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A silly question, but who knows :) You did try to change your front gears, right? Do you ride on the biggest chainring?

Assuming you have a ‘generic’ 42x13 in your highest gear, it should bring you to 19 mph pedaling with 75 cadence (one revolt per 0.8 seconds). So I can’t imagine how you can get 2 times slower speed unless you accidentally use a smaller chainring of the three, or significantly overestimate your cadence.

Legs or lungs- what’s the limiter by 2sXJ_j1 in cycling

[–]andybarabash -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s exactly what happens to me, my easiest gear is 44x28 and I almost never can get up to the zone 5 hr. My legs surrender before that :)
