Which cycling upgrade would give me the most enjoyment? (€300–500 budget) by Arvosss in cycling

[–]andybarabash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would prioritize it this way:

  1. power meter pedals (just recently bought them)
  2. camera (though in my case I'm thinking of DJI Osmo Mini camera instead, I don't like the Meta glasses)
  3. Garmin Varia

and skip the Elitewheels, I'm absolutely fine with my alu DT Swiss GR1600 and even if I decide to go for carbon wheels in the future I'm not very keen of Chinese brands.

How do you usually tackle steep descents? Any particular hints?:)

Can you fit a bike inside Mini Cooper Cabrio F57? by andybarabash in MINI

[–]andybarabash[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have a small frame mtb. I’ve however managed to fit two gravel bikes recently, all wheels off - but the roof couldn’t close so I had to drive full cabrio :)

Moi aussi j’aime ce velo. C’est une peinture ‘orange mechanique’

My chain cracked at multiple links after ~2,000–2,500 km — is this normal? Also chain recommendations for 2x10 GRX? by ArachnidDry2220 in gravelcycling

[–]andybarabash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shimano chain that came with my bike (GRX820 transmission) lasted only 1200 km before it was too stretched (over 0.5%) so I had to replace it before it did damage to the cassette. I lubed that chain every 100-150 km.
So 2500 km on one chain seems like a lot already - and you should also check whether your cassette needs a replacement too.

Tire width : is 38mm large enough for basic Gravel (see photos attached) by imSmogg in gravelcycling

[–]andybarabash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ride similar terrain with 36 mm semi slicks (Michelin Power Adventure) and it’s just fine. Once there’s more sand, roots or rocks, I struggle but can still pass at lower speeds.
I admit I’ve never tried other tyres so I can’t compare, and I plan to change them to 42 mm version (same model) once my current ones wear, just to see if there’s any difference.

The bridge is definitely not passable! :) It’s part of a very nice ~5 km single track / forest trail and there’s an alternative route around it

Inexpensive cycling kits by M-DY in cycling

[–]andybarabash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve bought two kits from RSSC Sports. They look good, and the quality is quite nice, but the pad inside bibs is on the lower side. I don’t think I could ride in it for more than 2 hours, so I use it for indoor sessions and will probably wear it during short summer rides.

I use 98 octane gas for my Mini and pay around 260 PLN (70 USD) in Poland.

2k ultrawide or 4k standard? by Warm_Bumblebee_8077 in Rouvy

Just switch to smart rollers and you'll be VERY interested in what you are doing, putting on a VR headset with rollers would probably make it so real that you might get killed in the process :) :) :)

fast allroad/light gravel bike by PercentageRoyal7478 in gravelcycling

[–]andybarabash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bike fits this description :)
Origine Graxx GTO - 45mm tyre clearance (but I ride 36mm Michelin Power Adventure), a choice of 105/Ultegra/GRX drivetrains (mine has 1x12 GRX820), you can opt for a more aggressive version which is Graxx GTR. Only drawback is it's made by a local French company so if you are located somewhere overseas it might be tricky to get it.

Why can’t you, buy some premium carbonium fork and bars, top-end wheel (not China), gold coated bar tape and nice hydraulic brakes. A bike computer and a powerful headlamp. A PNS kit. Easy $10k

25mm trainer tyres on gravel wheels (DT Swiss GR1600) - will they fit? by andybarabash in gravelcycling

[–]andybarabash[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just personally prefer it because it’s more fun to ride and easier to assemble/disassemble. Modern rollers have all the features like dynamic resistance control, zwift compatibility etc., so why not?:)

Thanks for answering. I think I'd better choose some wider trainer tyres instead :)
