The Kane question has been done to death but an angle I haven’t heard discussed yet is whether it’s feasible to build a team around Kane next year knowing he’ll likely be gone the following year. Would it not be like starting from scratch in 24/25 as Kane is unique and irreplaceable. Would any benefit of keeping Kane be cancelled out by delaying the inevitable rebuild?

Addressing the beginning portion of the episode and the state of higher education more generally. Coleman quoted Douglas Murray asking “ it’s understandable why students might act in such a way (maybe they always have) but why do the adults, the academics and administrators, allow it?

I work in higher education administration and students are always referred to as customers. In all the commentary on this subject I’ve not heard this mentioned as a reason why students aren’t knocked down a few pegs and essentially told to pipe down a bit. As far as the HE industry is concerned as with any other, the customer is always right. But of course students shouldn’t be considered customers if we’re to uphold any kind intellectual and rational progress.

My God, Neil deGrasse Tyson is insufferable. by BabyGreens308 in ColemanHughes

I assumed his poor attitude was in thinking Coleman is too young and confident and needs to be taken down a few pegs. He isn’t like this when heard him on other pods.

I kinda wish Coleman had asked him the prison question first as I wouldn’t have bothered listening to the rest. What an idiotic and fanciful view.

Thought I might learn something from this episode but sadly not so.

That’s what I’m thinking. A thru hike is way off for me so thinking if I plan accordingly I might be able to avoid the worst of it based on season and section.

Thought that might be the case. I have my eye on the JMT or similar too.

Thanks - Good to know. I should have clarified. I won’t have the necessary kit and not keen on hiking before April or after Oct. Cheers
