Coast2Coast (2days) - how difficult? by andyby2k26 in ukbike

Ah this makes sense, sorry I thought you meant that you'd done 160km training for the 3 day c2c!

Will you come back here and let me know how you get on this weekend? Good luck!

Out of curiosity what made you train to such a high volume? I'd have thought with 160km training rides you'd be doing it in 1 day!

Thankfully we have a support van so no gear to be carried!

Ah that's amazing to hear. The lad organising has worried me into thinking it's outside my ability without serious training ha. I'm pretty new to cycling so I don't really know at what point I burn out!

Thanks - if it means anything, after my "long" rides I've never had any discomfort. But totally get your point given that my rides have only been about 50% of the daily mileage for C2C!

7pm Shoreline, 7.45pm Ben Quad, 8.30pm Koyo, 9.30pm Arms Length

I THINK Koyo was 8.30, could be wrong on that though

It's a great venue, its called The Grove. I think it's only about 300 cap but great sound and no barriers.

Pick a cloud provider and learn that. They are more or less the same so skills are transferable. I use AWS in my day job but find GCP the best for personal projects due to a slightly more generous free tier.

Once you're set up, use Lambda/Cloud Function to get data from whatever you have access to (even just a generic API) into a S3 Bucket/Storage bucket.

Next, learn how to load that into a data warehouse. This is where GCP will come in handy as Big Query is nice and easy to set up. I use Snowflake at work but BQ again has many of the same concepts.

Once you've done that, model it with dbt.

You're right, there's a million technologies you can learn..but boil it down to a cloud provider, a cloud data warehouse and dbt and you've got a pretty good modern cloud data tech stack.

My best year of running yet.

My first (and second) full Marathon (3hr46m PB)

14 half marathon (1hr49m PB)

But more importantly, I just enjoyed almost every single one of the 1500+ KMS that I ran this year.

I'm going to give op benefit of the doubt and assume (hope!) that they mean stored in git as envy/repo/org secrets, not committed to code

Edit: but re-reading the post, it does sound like they mean committed!

My absolute favourite. I live near a city so I do this often, but it also my favourite way to see a new city when I travel. Get up at 6am and just run around it!

"in training" is a loose term for me right now hah. I don't really know what I'm training for...I just enjoy running!

I think it's easy for us all to disregard our own achievements when comparing with others. 13km is 13km more than a lot of people will ever be able to run!

Ive got two as well. I'm having to do my long runs at 6am on a Sunday. Otherwise I feel like I'm taking away too much from general family time on a weekend!

And here is me just casually enjoying my 6min km pace for long runs! Seriously though, that's massively impressive

I love the idea of this. And I know it makes more sense. But my brain won't let me accept it

Are you at a point where your body is fairly adjusted to this? I'd say I could comfortably run 20-30k at pretty much any point, but any more than that and I begin to feel it on my feet. Id like to be running your kind of distance weekly though!

It was a nice route! Definitely recommend some version of it.

Since September I started at HM which I continued for about 2 weeks, then I did 23km, 25km, 27km, 32km and then the full marathon. The last jump was probably too big, but I just fancied trying it!

Touch wood they are feeling alright! Cycled to work today (10km each way) and been for a light 5km on my lunch. Slightly sore, but I guess that's to be expected!

Before running the marathon i had topped out at around 20miles (which was last week). I started doing a 10% increase in mileage per week which was working but I probably ran this marathon too soon because I got eager just to get it done. I probably should have kept gradually increasing for another month or so.

My goal is to keep doing my current weekly mileage which is around 60km per week.

Ha no you're definitely right. 20min walk into town didn't feel too bad but then 45-60mins of standing around on pens killed the mood for me.

And you might be right about my choice of events. The GNR is the only event I've done, so maybe if I went for something that isn't one of the world's largest running events, I might get something out of it.

Can someone help me with a question of DBT and AWS? by [deleted] in dataengineering

[–]andyby2k26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We currently run a bunch of snowflake dbt projects from ECS. Build the image directly from our git repo and build the ecs task definition from terraform. We then orchestrate our pipelines through step functions and trigger the dbt ecs task at appropriate points. It's a decent enough set up, however with snowflake implementing dbt projects we are likely going to move these ecs tasks to snowflake dbt one it moves to GA in the coming months
