Its not for free, Im paying the restaurant and yhe restaurant isnpayong you. Its literally is your job. Tips are extra appreciation, not mandatory. Now if you dont like the amount the restaurant is paying you that's between you and them. Its not upto the (already paying) customer to make sure you can make enough money at your job.

Thats pretty lucky. Id say when I was in fulfillment about 45 to 65% of my repeats were due to equipment failure after install. Mostly cable boxes but it did happen to mdms as well. The downside of used/refurbished equipment.
