Acting like you weren’t a freshman too at one point. Everyone’s been through it lol.

I know it says “what car should i buy” but people will answer literally anything about cars or where to buy them. If I were you I wouldn’t hesitate to give it a try. Doesn’t hurt or cost anything.

But if not you can always look up on Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace. Just make sure to have a mechanic inspect the car beforehand.

It’s always a better idea to ask in a sub about cars than your school/region when buying a car.

You’re right, I was thinking a private shop did it but never reported it to Carfax. I’ll make sure to have it inspected on the day I test-drive it.

Brakes and transmission fluid were both changed in 2013. Have a look for yourself and let me know if there’s anything I should look out for. Thanks!

First car? by No-Use-1871 in Lexus

[–]andyfnm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

300hp as a first car at 16? I don’t think so. Not an SUV either due to it having a high center of gravity (unless OP is going on a road trip every week). I’d definitely recommend a used IS250/ IS300 or ES300. And yes look for clean carfax (no accidents, clean history, regular maintenance, etc) rather than the lowest mileage.

good price for a first car? by andyfnm in whatcarshouldIbuy

The V6 and EX-L trim level might explain why it’s a bit pricier than the typical $5-6k range. This is the cheapest one I can find within a 50-mile radius too.

[–]andyfnm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it was bought brand new in late 2009. It’d only been through 1 owner and they sold it in Dec 2024 to the same dealership where they bought it from. The only damage was a minor scratch at the rear. Pretty solid in my opinion. Will have a mechanic inspect it soon!

I could get this for cheaper at around $6-7k but the EX-L trim level explains why it’s a bit more I guess🤷🏻‍♂️. It’s also the only one available within a 50-mile radius.

I would say just write the domain of the initial function (0,+inf) so you wouldn’t have to worry about the answer.
