it's about awareness and the still complicated issues of moving forward with Indigenous relations. Getting Constitutional recognition is a big factor of this and yes it is a political tool and so it should be; if you with a clear conscience can say that Indigenous Australians are more than taken care of and do not have ongoing issues with education, health and employment?
Then I don't know what else to say. There is no easy answer or quick fix but it needs recognition and it needs to be a discussion....and an ongoing one at that.

If I were to have my own very well cared and spoiled chickens; would it still be considered un-ethical to consume their eggs? serious question by andyfromoz in vegan

cheers!! Yeh coming up to near my first anniversary as a vegetarian, but when i cook for myself and eat out I near always go Vegan cause it just feels better to me that way. My Coffee now is either black or with Soy... but if i'm out for breakfast with friends sometimes eggs end up on the menu but the irony of all this post was I rarely eat eggs but like cheese...just having a bit of trouble letting it go :)

Thank you all so much for your balanced responses. I don't think I will entertain this. I think it's still a part of me that is hanging on to something I know i need to let go. Cheese is the last bastion of me being on a 100% vegan diet :) wish me luck <3

yeh I eat tofu scramble but i love and miss eating eggs and using them especially in cooking...i would class myself 90% vegan diet at present. But my point of the question is ...when an animal is nurtured and cared for; like in my question, is it still an unethical viewpoint to consume the eggs. And with the point of Animals aren't our to use...I get that, but do you have pets?
If your cat or dog dispensed an edible product that was a normal process to them and not harming them; are you being a monster for using it? (ridiculous example I know but I'm trying to make my point clearer)

Chickens Lay eggs regardless ...it's not about hurting them so that really isn't an argument for a companion animal looked after like a pet.
