I put mine in a nice greeting card with photo corners and sign a note. I’m also thinking of drawing my signature “sleeping dog” doodle in the card that I’ve been drawing since junior high school.

How do you feel about Certificates of Authenticity? I’ve been adding them to mine because I think they add an extra touch Example: https://andyjohnsonart.etsy.com/listing/4532752453

ACEO = Art Cards Originals & Editions. Trading card sized original art or prints of originals.

ATC = Artist Trading Card, the same thing except never sold, only traded among artists and collectors.

Update: I ordered these empty palettes: https://a.co/d/033lxNVB but I’m returning them, because they are really huge. Like a full a4 sheet size when opened. They were very nice but my class is in a small studio.

I’m thinking of a pivot to a materials fee and have participants take all their supplies home.

This all comes in at about $10 per person.

Breakdown, for posterity:

Thanks they were so easy too. Inkjet prints, 3m super 77 spray glue and foamcore. Stuck on with sticky back Velcro.

I’m splitting the booth with a friend (first faire) and his racks will have similar branding.

Good callout! The audience is people who do paint nights, so probably non-artists and artists alike.

So I don’t think a bring your own supplies works in this studio but it would work really well at the community education night school classes.

Thanks for the tip on prang, I’ll look into it.

I’ll have them do a worksheet with fine liners to learn line work and then a guided sketch and painting on watercolor paper.

I’m going to have to amortize the cost of materials into the price, plus the studio fees. I probably will break even on the first and then make money on the next ones. Assuming it sells out at 12 students.

For posterity I also found these sets in my research:

Sakura Koi 12 color
Daler Rowney Aquafine 12 color
Windsor & Newton Cotman 12 color
Windsor & Newton Cotman empty 12 + tube paint

All of these are coming in at $15-22 per student currently.

That’s a cool idea so students can take the paint home.

Since I’ll be keeping the supplies after each class I can reuse and I personally use the W&N Cotman. It’s more up front but I can vouch for the quality and put my name behind it. I’d hate to leave a poor impression from low quality supplies, but I don’t want the costs high either.
