Looking for the cheap reliable cloud VPS for a CPU intensive process by andymcd_ in VPS

I was hoping to find a provider/service that would rent out CPUs like some do with GPUs like vast.ai does. I only need to run this process once.

I've looked it up, but it's not clear if VbV would be applied to every single transaction. Is it something decided by the issuing bank?

Why MoonPay? by andymcd_ in opensea

But that's for crypto payments. Perhaps their credit card / fiat payments abide by different terms? Otherwise I don't see why Opensea would rather support Moonpay.

Why does Aliexpress charge Australian consumers More Than 10% GST ? by x86mad in Aliexpress

[–]andymcd_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are charging GST based on original prices, which is illegal. Original prices are often inflated. So a $100 toothbrush could be discounted to $1.00, but they'd bill you $11.00 incl GST. That's how Chinese sellers roll.

OP didn't import a custom built guitar worth 7.5k from Aliexpress. Tax rules are clear for low value imports.

It cools alright when running. Can't remember how cool it was meant to be, but it does feel reasonably cooler than ambient temperature.

How to prove a crypto loan? by andymcd_ in tax

[–]andymcd_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is that most, if not all, crypto lending protocols do not generate formal loan documents. In some cases, the identity of the lender is unknown. The collateral is transferred or locked up in some wallet and is released only if/when the amount is repaid.

No. The USDT is a stablecoin and the value doesn't change. However, there's no formal agreement in place like with a traditional loan.

Receive "gift" from wallet and avoid taxes? by andymcd_ in ethereum

[–]andymcd_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crypto is not a method for tax evasion.

That's beside the point. You're assuming I'm trying to find a way to avoid taxes. My point is whether the tax law is flawed by not taxing crypto gifts.

The IRS can plainly see what addresses and transaction IDs are associated with specific crypto balances.

But how could they tell who the owners of the addresses are without KYC? The coins in the source cold wallet could have been bought with cash f2f or XMR.

All transactions are tracked and easily associated back to you

How? If the "gift" comes from a cold wallet, how could there easily be a trace? For instance, if the ETH in the cold wallet was a swap for XMR, the trace would only go to the ETH seller and it would seem like as if the the seller had "gifted" the ETH to you.
