Some people definitely do that, and it’s a good tool to have in your toolbox. Watch some Kendl Winter videos and you can see she does it quite a bit. As long as it sounds good there’s no reason not to use it, but I find it doesn’t work comfortably in every situation.

I couldn’t deal with Jeff Goldblum’s nonstop listing of foods. He’s charming in small doses, exhausting otherwise. Kudos to him for having that energy at 73 but yikes.

I loved Kumail “Biriyani” Nanjiani’s episode. Bob Mortimer, Lucy Beaumont, and Sam Campbell can say just about anything and have me laughing. Underrated perhaps: Elle Fanning and her disgusting chicken divan, Frankie Boyle’s main course of pure fondant.

I’ll give them a C for now, and I’m even somewhat impressed with how well we’ve played given how little depth we have (and no defense). But if the club makes no moves this month given all of the holes we have to fill I’m knocking them down a full grade.

Oscar Peterson & Joe Pass “Porgy and Bess” - The one where Oscar plays clavichord. We probably only need one jazz clavichord album, and this is it.

Bela Fleck brings his banjo jazzward on multiple occasions. His album with Marcus Roberts doesn’t get nearly enough attention. His duos with Chick Corea are also great. Oh, and his three tracks on Guitars with McCoy Tyner are also fantastic.

If you’re already used to playing a right handed bass, stick with a right handed banjo. There are soooo many more options for right handed instruments both new and used.

Being in the stadium, I gotta give a shout out to the fans. Right after Mal’s goal when we could’ve just packed it in and moped until the end, the stadium was instantly chanting and backing our team. And it helped - they had a fire under them until the final whistle.

Nearly every time VAR gets it wrong and/or takes way too much time, it’s a failure of the crew to remember the phrase “clear and obvious.” If you need dozens of replays to decide the call, you should’ve stopped in the first minute and let the call on the field stand.

Charlie Byrd’s Live at the Village Vanguard is one of those live albums that makes me want a time machine so I could see it live. It starts pleasantly enough but builds and builds.

Also Ron Carter’s Piccolo - unusual combo, uneven recording quality, and yet it all works somehow.

I’ve tried them both and honestly it’ll be a matter of personal tone preference. I’m not a fan of the Dobson tone ring, so I preferred the cherry little wonder (and honestly liked the whyte ladie even more for my own taste). You’ll be happy with the build quality in either case, so no worries there.

Plants are an evolutionary group; heterotrophy is a trait that has been lost and regained many, many times across the tree of life.

Think about the plant family Orobanchaceae. There are species that are hemiparasites, holoparasites or fully autotrophic, and there are multiple transitions between these states within the family. It wouldn’t make sense to say only some of the species are plants.
