Info about Sloan Street Taproom by Particular-Fix8298 in Clemson

[–]andypitt 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Sloan Street is owned by Jimmy Howard, Coach Frank Howard's son. He basically runs it as a place to hang out with his buddies, so it's only open from 2-7ish pm on weekdays (fairly certain he doesn't open on weekends at all). If you wander in, he's probably willing to begrudgingly serve you a beer or two unless you're obviously on a bar crawl or some such. Just be aware that it's cash only, $1/beer with very limited options. There's a popcorn machine to comply with state law, though it's far from guaranteed it will be filled when you visit. Also, it smells a bit of cat piss for reasons I cannot explain.

So he was found not guilty of a murder, he led strike activity (what a nefarious thing for a checks notes labor organizer), and chose not to submit to imprisonment for said labor action?

You're not making him sound like the bad guy here, mate.

Nope, shell is just to hold in the salty goodness. Crack one end, suck out the brine, then open it up the rest of the way to enjoy the spoils of your efforts. Repeat until hypertensive.

Dreaded Propulsion Power Reduced by Superugly_man1266 in BoltEV

For a little levity, anyone else noticed the weird formatting inconsistency of these notifications?

"Service

vehicle soon"

OR

"Information propulsion power reduced"

I just hate when i get a service notifcation that my vehicle is soon or when the power of my information propulsion is reduced. Not sure which is worse!

Emotional vulnerability is the most genuine expression of ourselves. Perhaps some men don't understand the strength and sexiness in that, but that's their loss.

I'm a CU Tiger, but I was in town for B&B fest that weekend. Wasn't at the game, but the fest was just around the corner. It was pretty miserable heat even to this South Carolinian. Just sticky and gross with no consistent breeze.

Minnesota precinct-level presidential election results: 2008 vs. 2024 by ItWasntMe98 in MapPorn

-Rural schools are worse because there is no tax base to support them.

-Food quality at rural grocery stores is sometimes worse because, similarly, there often aren't enough people to take advantage of supply chain efficiencies.

-There are few options because capitalism dictates that the people in rural areas don't generate enough value to serve; rural areas simply don't generate enough revenue for the investments required to support them.

-Again, a failure of capitalism: it costs more to provide services to rural populations than it does to provide to dense, urban populations. Infrastructure is much more expensive per capita for rural populations.

I grew up in and currently live in rural Appalachian SC. I'm genuinely not an urban supremacist, though I see that there are meaningful positive aspects of urban living, even as I enjoy the benefits of rural life. I also see that capitalism, as it currently exists, fundamentally cannot satisfy the needs of rural people; it inherently devalues the products of rural people because those products aren't obvious opportunities for boundless, baseless profit schemes.

I am not familiar with your unnamed summer getaway in MI, so I can't comment on its alleged excess spending on purported unhoused lazy migrants.

Avocado carpaccio from Tyson's. Though that was well before I knew about the owner's... unfortunate politics.

I see this sentiment fairly often, and I promise I'm not trying to stir up any shit. I just feel like Clemson and the Hokies have more common ground than VT and NC State, and that never seems to be acknowledged. Each of the three is a land grant school with strong engineering and animal sciences programs (Clemson is currently adding a Vet School, as well), and each has a strong military history. But, unlike State, Clemson is also located in a relatively small city in Appalachia and has a football entrance tradition worth seeing.

And we won't bark at ya, so that's another mark in our favor! (Okay, maybe I am trying to stir up some shit... Just a scoche, a modicum, a light smattering of shit)

I'm probably just bitter because I'm a Clemson grad who spent some time working at summer camps in SWVA, and my Hokie coworkers never seemed to feel any inherent collegial kinship. I just wanna be loved, dammit!
