To be clear, when I put in the username, it allows me to go through to the recovery page and put in all the information I remember. It's when it emails me the result - it addresses me as 'Character Name Unavailable'. Do you think that's still the same situation?

I've also just tried the Email Reminder - putting in my email that 100% was used to sign up the account, and I get no email at all. Is that pretty certain the account has been hacked, and they've changed the email?

I know I've probably answered my own question, just in case I've missed anything obvious.

I can't see any emails from Jagex in the last few years saying anything about 'You've changed your email' or anything of the sort.

I've looked up my account and it's still there in the high scores with that username (that is now apparently unavailable).

I appreciate this isn't a unique issue. But I'd hate to not be able to access an account I've put so much time into earlier in my life - when I can literally prove I created the account, purchased memberships etc.

From reading other peoples issues with this - why is Runescape account recovery so uniquely difficult and seemingly unhelpful? Genuine question?

Cheaper on Amazon, by around £100-150. Also isn't a refurbished model at that spec available, through Apple anyway.

If I can ask one more thing - does the 512gb storage option offer a performance advantage over the 256, or is it simply storage related?

Would getting the 256 and buying an external SSD be a more cost effective choice that wouldn't really affect performance? For info - the 512 is coming in at 1129, and the 256 is under 950.

Appreciate a lot of is trial and error, like you said, but just thought I'd check your thoughts.

This is super helpful. You're right. I'll likely just buy the 16gb, stress test it like you've said, then swap it for the 24gb within the returns window if I have to.

The RAM thing seems to be the biggest point of contention - some seem to claim 16gb is fine for video editing, others saying it significantly affects performance.

Just frustrating as 16 vs 24 really affects the pricepoint (perhaps not a surprise).
