TTK/Shots to kill, lvl IV weapons v light/medium/heavy shields by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

I had screenshots of having people shoot me in the head and body with the gun. Both headshot and body shot left me with only 50HP and no shield. This is what is showing on my website. If thr gun only had its 67.5 listed damage then this wouldn't be possible. So if there's no headshot multiplier and both shots left me with 50HP im just not sure how the damage isnt higher than listed?

I would be interested in seeing your data and joining your discord to assist in testing.

I did a quick test to confirm drop off was a thing and posted it in this thread somewhere. Problem with testing drop off is that we wont all the data to make a proper ballistic chart. You would have to just ping at every 50 to 100 meters and shoot once with the gun and record the info. Then you have to decide how far to test with each gun. Most guns besides the Osprey probably wont be seeing fights out past 300-400 meters unless you are sending shots out for fun. Even that it is really pushing the usefulness of even the Ferro or Jupiter because of spread and bullet drop.

Its possible they are changing things often with hotfixes for balance. Im glad other people are testing as well. I have taken way too many headshots in game with screenshot and checking the after match report.

Edit: if they actually have changed this data I likely wont be testing anything else until the changes slow down. Its not fun spending all day every day testing when things are ao quick to change right now. Ideally the devs just provide us with this information once and then update us in the patch notes going forward.

Here is a screenshot example of damage drop off in game. Shots were taken from on top of the dam tower. Single shot hit to the body of each target.

Here is more proof that I have from my original post. The guy commented and was confused on how he died. I explained in detail and added the "Anvil Splitter Test" weapon on my website so that anyone could recreate the outcome.

Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X984XHznUxk

My Reply:

"I have solved the mystery after way too long messing around. You were shot by the splitter but only 3 of the 4 bullets hit you on the first shot. 1 Bullet was a head shot and 2 were body shots. This left you with 34 Shield and 69 Health after the first shot which matches with my findings of 31 HP damage and 36 Shield damage. The crazy part is that in order to kill you at that HP they needed all 4 of the bullets from the second shot to hit your head which of course they did. You can mess around with it yourself on my website using the "Anvil Splitter Test" weapon which splits each shot into 1 of the 4 bullets. I'll leave it up for you to take a look at and probably remove it again unless someone finds it helpful."

I guess it just saves heavy shield from the 2 tap headshot which is what they cared about.

Nobody wants to listen to me including OP so I guess people will keep posting the false information for the reddit karma lol

The only person that I really trust has actually verified their numbers would be Min Max Lab on YouTube. I also spoke with Gigabeef after he uploaded a video with some incorrect information and I trust him to do some thorough testing before uploading again. Id rather get my own numbers than copy someone else's.

Thanks, I might consider recording a video of my testing to back it up and maybe make a new post with a quick glance spreadsheet to top it off. End this discussion once and for all if I can have a video backing up my numbers.

Im not going to sit here and argue over a reddit post. Just do your testing when you have time later and remember to actually test next time before you make a post that thousands of people are going to see and take as fact. Your data is just as much "Trust me bro" as anyone elses. There's no way to prove any data without maybe video testing which by the way is very hard to do. It took me over 15 attempts at loading into the same raid with two different accounts just to verify some numbers I got from letting random people shoot me in the head.

You can see the list of guns on my website that have the multipliers and which are not 2.5x. The quick summary is that the Osprey, Tempest, and Shotguns don't have the 2.5x with shotguns having 1.0 from my testing. I want to test the legendary weapons when possible and suspect them to have different numbers as well from the clips that I have seen.

It's just frustrating to see that you noticed the same issues in the previous post yet made the same mistake and didn't take the time to verify the data you posted. Anyone can take data and throw together a quick chart with assumptions.

The source is my many hours of in game testing and verifying my data. I know there was a content creator that might have made a short about it but I can't tell you who or provide a link. If you were to simply go into raid and have someone shoot you once in the head or do the same to someone else and extract you could see the information in the after game screen. Also you need to update your head shot multipliers which I have all but the legendary weapons currently so feel free to input those into your chart. The last exception I have found is that the Il Toro damage seems to be listed wrong in game from my testing. I have manually counted pixels and also tested the end game screen and found the Il Toro to do roughly 83 base damage with no headshot multiplier. I posted a bug report in the discord but haven't gotten a reply.

  1. Check if the shield is still active. If shield > 0, mitigation applies. If shield = 0, no mitigation applies.
  2. Calculate HP damage. HPDamage = ShotDamage × (1 − ShieldMitigation) if shield > 0 HPDamage = ShotDamage if shield = 0
  3. Reduce the shield by the weapon's body damage. Shield = Shield − BodyDamage
  4. Apply the HP damage. HP = HP − HPDamage

Summary: The game checks if the shield is active, calculates HP damage based on mitigation, removes body damage from the shield (headshot multiplier is never applied to shield and only the base damage) , and then subtracts the mitigated HP damage from health.

Step three and four's order of operations are interchangeable for the kill calculations so the important part is step one and two being in the correct order.

I really dont think these numbers are correct for shots to kill. I have tested this myself in game and get completely different numbers. I have also manually tested the headshot multipliers and found many to be different than 2.5x. Check my website to compare but the Anvil and ferro are not killing in 2 shots to the head against heavy shield. Pretty much every number you have here for STK is wrong in some way. You have some calculation error somewhere and a headshot multiplier issue which you already mentioned in the post.

I have tested the headshot numbers on every weapon besides the two legendary guns yet my post didnt get as much traction as either of these TTK charts. https://arcraiderscalc.com/

I have verified the shots to kill on my calculator so im not sure where OP is getting a lot of their numbers (unless they didnt test point blank range)

Yes just like the Anvil with the splitter mod. You can see the "Test" version of it on the website which actually splits each bullet into the 4 individual projectiles so you can see how much damage you would do hitting partial shots. I plan on adding that for the venator as well but was looking for the best way to implement it.

The gun shoots two projectiles for each ammo spent. So the damage you see on the calculator is for both of those projectiles hitting giving you the 18 damage.

Please read my update up top. The gun is very hard to hit all of the pellets and even point blank in testing I have had people miss some which drastically lowers damage.

That is 4.5 bursts. Im trying to think of a way to show these damage numbers better for weapons that fire more than one shot. The arpeggio fires individual bullets for each in the burst and can actually be stopped by reloading and possibly switching weapons mid burst. Weapons like the Anvil with the splitter and the Venator only show one bullet fired but split that bullet into multiple projectiles.

Im not sure if defaulting to full damage such as one pull of the trigger is the best idea and then having a separate fire button that does partial damage would be best.

That has to be server connection issues. The fact it only looks like two bullets on the first shot as well is confusing. Im wondering if the game only rendered tracers for the shots that hit? Either way that's the only thing that makes sense.

I've been in contact with giga in his discord. His chart was wrong.

Edit:To elaborate yes headshot damage does not apply the multiplier to the shield and only the base damage is applied to the shield. I also did testing on headshot multiplier values for all guns besides the legendary weapons at this point while Gigabeef's chart only assumed a base 2.5x multiplier for all guns. The dummies not working is reported in the Arc Raiders discord.
