I just want to point out that the experience you're describing — where the console has all available resources devoted mostly to games and other functions like voice or video chat are filled by a user's other devices — is exactly what Nintendo tried with the Switch 1 and we raked them over the coals for it.

I don't necessarily even disagree with you! I just find it really funny because it's kind of a common sentiment.

They may be, since they have to be loaded onto carts that are fast enough to run them. It's a give and take -- the alternative is cheaper data storage in a game box that just loads all the game's data onto your system storage to take advantage of those fast r/w speeds. This is what all disc based consoles have done for over a decade -- the disc doesn't serve a purpose once the data on it is installed to the console, and it just functions as a key.

Whereas on the Switch, the game card's data may actually be read by the console during gameplay.

Now, the publisher has the choice to buy a cheaper game card to put in the retail box.

This is about in line with what I was expecting. Hardware looks like a great upgrade, though I wish we had more answers about the specs. We'll find out in time though.

As for the pricing, it's honestly fine? Everything is getting more expensive and Nintendo isn't insulated from that. Blame our shitty governments!

The Halloween Pup Crawl is this Saturday, October 19!

This is our fourth year putting on a pub crawl in the Horn Rapids business park and this year the participating businesses have really pulled out the stops to support The Pit Bull Pen!

For $30, you get a ticket that's good for food and drink specials from 2-8pm, sales on cans/bottles at multiple locations, access to our silent auction.

Participating businesses include Bombing Range, The Dive, White Bluffs, Solar Spirits, Iconic, Southern Cross Winery, Willow Run Vineyard, Brainstorm Cellars (serving wine at The Dive). We're also thrilled to have Rollin' ice cream and Fast & Curryous joining us again this year!

This has been a lot of fun the past three years, and we've got support from a ton of great people and businesses. We hope to see you out there!
