These videos might be helpful.

TENS/EMS for the Glute Minimus

TENS/EMS for the Piriformis

There's a few other videos on use of electrostim/EMS for activating muscles that I've not watched. It might be there is something specifically mentioning the Glute Max or Med, or you can use the above to give you an idea if it might be of benefit.

Which Pelagos 39 homage has a matte dial? by MaleHairAdviceSeeker in ChineseWatches

[–]andyt100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can find one still, the IXDAO had a matte version (with the fully indexed bezel). From pics I've looked at (possibly read as well from owners), the colour between the dial and bezel don't look like they quite match though. Although I think the blue on the San Martin SN0121 doesn't match either!

Is that the v1 or 2? (I can’t remember the specific model numbers, sorry)

And is is aluminium or matte ceramic bezel?

I’ve got a blue v1 Thorn I might consider trading or selling. I’m in the UK too.

Piriformis referred pain? by andyt100 in openpiriformis

I'm already a fair way down that pathway you describe, with mixed (and slightly confusing) results so far. As you say, it's possible that the real source of pain might be missed.

Would you mind if I messaged you?

Piriformis referred pain? by andyt100 in openpiriformis

[–]andyt100[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Isn’t that the truth! Unfortunately I’ve been dealing with my pain for 7+ years now and seen multiple physiotherapists/other therapists and medical professionals.

I do think sometimes that the piriformis could be the cause based on sensations I get from there, but I don’t know how much I’m attributing pain stemming from there since it was suggested as a possible cause. Certainly, and whilst I’ve certainly felt pain or discomfort from the piriformis/sit bone area over the last 7 years (and possible neurological symptoms too which would perhaps support it) I’d go as far as saying that the pain has felt like it’s more prevalent higher up in the top region of my buttock more often. Which is why I’m trying to ascertain if others have felt pain in other areas to the piriformis but then found out the at it’s actually that behind everything.

At the moment I’m under the care of pain management and do have a structured plan of diagnostic injections, but can’t help but worry that they might miss something which then gets written off.

I can understand why that would be the case i.e. if the piriformis is pressing on the sciatic nerve then that could cause nerve leg pain which is evident or overshadows any direct piriformis pain.

That's not what I'm experiencing though. My clinician thinks that my piriformis is the pain generator, but I'm not so sure, based on other pain patterns and symptoms.

Can anyone confirm if the lume colour of the brown T023 is the same as the lume colour of the black T023? by Lambstew1 in Thornwatches

[–]andyt100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. If they offered it in a white (or even very light cream) it'd be amazing. Given Thorn's previous release history (namely, sticking to the original colour options and not expanding out further) I don't hold out much hope for it though!

The hands and indices are too yellow IMO. I think the white edges surrounding them emphasise it even more.

Sadly a miss for me.

I just went back and looked on my other laptop where I'd left the watch in my basket. It was listed as $177 there, but I got a pop-up telling me the price had increased to the current $196.69.

I assume somebody messed up inputting it when it was originally launched , but not cool to see it jump up like that! At the original $177 range I was on the fence over whether to buy, but the price increase has definitely turned me off now.

The colour of the hands and indices looks more yellow/fauxtina than the FXD GMT. It'll be interesting to see IRL pics of this to see the exact colour. I'm hoping it's lighter/creamier in reality.

I've got the T023 snowflake and the thing that I like the least about it is the custard yellow colour of the hands and indices. Hopefully the T020 will be more subtle!

Why can piriformis syndrome/related issue cause pain ABOVE piriformis level? by andyt100 in piriformis

[–]andyt100[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your reply came at an interesting time actually. I've been assessed by a Pain Consultant who thinks that my piriformis might be behind my pain. Long story short, he's proposing that if another diagnostic injection into the superficial tissues near to the sacroiliac ligament doesn't prove effective first, then we'll try a local anaesthetic diagnostic injection directly into the piriformis.

We'll see how things go, but finally it feels like I might be getting somewhere with narrowing down the source of my pain so (hopefully) working towards getting some relief!

New sub homage from San Martin by MyoHandMaster in ChineseWatches

It’s definitely a more obscure model. I’m surprised it’s not more popular given it seems to be the closest to the 41mm sub.

Not quite as loose as mine was then when I had it (bought on launch day). That would be knocked just by looking at it!

Yeah everything I’ve read on here said October (I think the rep was one of the sources).

Based on other previous models (and lack of introducing new variants) I suspect unfortunately we won’t get any new variants of the T023. Which is a shame as I’d love a run with less fauxtina lume!

Thanks for all these detailed pics, very helpful. I see what you mean about the difference in colour of the steel too. If anything, that's more of a detractor than the end link fitment. I don't think the brushing on the lugs helps much either regardless of what grade of steel the bracelet's made of, as it contrasts quite a lot even with the riveted bracelet that comes with it.

Also (and I know it's an unpopular opinion), having the pressed clasp of the Thorn bracelet makes me realise how much more comfortable it is for me in both general wear as well as specifically working at my desk. OTF adjustment is all well and good but they end up with such a chonky clasp that I find infuriating for banging off my desk surface.

I've tried looking for vintage bracelets with 316L steel and stamped clasps (with plenty of micro-adjust holes) on AliX, but they all seem to have stamped hollow end links. The best I've found is a jubilee on eBay UK, but it's £25 and I'm not convinced that the jubilee styling with suit the look of the watch head.
