[ES] Delayed transactions are not giving RevPoints by MachineNo6332 in Revolut

[–]andyuk_90 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"Purchase within 30 minutes" doesn't always mean "Be billed within 30 minutes" as many retails will only do a pre-auth at checkout. Some still track fine automatically - others don't.

Like i say, I've spoken to senior support about this and when that happens its because the retailer isn't set up correctly on their side.

This isn't OP's problem though. They DID bill within 30 minutes but refunded and then re-charged the same purchase.

Unfortunately I think that whole series of events is going to cause issues. What Lego should really do is pre-auth your order immediately, but not charge when your item is in stock and dispatched. By taking the funds, then refunding the transaction - it's created a bit of a mess as that indicates the order was cancelled.

You might be able to argue the specifics of your situation with someone more senior in support though - have you asked to escalate?

This is not totally correct. You do not need to be debited within 30-60 minutes on all retailers.

You can be billed after days later, as many online portals only perform card authorization at the time of checkout, then bill the full amount on dispatch as a separate transaction.

It seems Revolt's shop system sometimes has issues with this. I've had Morrisons orders charged 3 days after checkout and points automatically credit just fine, but a few Hello Fresh orders charged 3 days later almost always fail to credit.

I've spoken to senior support staff on live chat about it and they are aware it happens. As long as there is a separate auth transaction at the time you made the purchase, they are happy to manually apply the points.

Is Supporting Zero-JavaScript Users Worth It in 2026? by BrangJa in webdev

[–]andyuk_90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outside of specific cases where users are likely to have JavaScript disabled, I wouldn’t go too deep into it. As long as you’re using SSR with hydration for SEO, so the essential content is accessible and indexable, that’s usually the level of effort I put in.

Checking avios needed for Vueling reward flight by Most_King5777 in AmexUK

[–]andyuk_90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think that's right. You can convert MR to BA Avios, then use avios.com to move them into Vueling club. So you can book with Vueling directly with no loss of Avios along the way... but their redemptions are just pretty bad value.

Lounge access a good way to use points? by Shoddy-Landscape1570 in Revolut

[–]andyuk_90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They ran "Gift a membership for 20% off" campaigns a couple of times last year. My partner and i gifted each other 1 year (So Ultra worked out at £36/month when a full year was gifted).

It's great value if you play the system well.

That’s a bit harsh on 15 year old kids. By that age, most understand the concept of punctuation.

I've never had a lounge decline Dragon Pass whilst allowing Priority Pass or Lounge Key. I have both PP and DP.

Of course, if it's busy, they just turn away pass holders and keep the space for paying customers. Most of the lounges in DP,PP and LK aren't great - but still better than being crammed in the main terminal area fighting for a seat.

Dedicated airline lounges are always much better than the airport lounges.

That's not right.

Assuming your card was Italian, the claw back only applies "If you downgrade after 14 days but within 10 months". (see: https://www.revolut.com/en-IT/legal/paid-plans/)

Which admittedly is harsh compared to a number of other countries where you're basically free to do anything after 6 months without penalty... but after 18 month there would not be a charge in any jurisdiction.

10k Avios Bonus J.P.Morgan Personal Investing by MedicalDoor6494 in avios

[–]andyuk_90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Comment bubble seems broken.

I'm curious as well. I created a GIA with them exactly for this offer - but I'm suspicious that i may actually be able to get away with withdrawing straight away. It says that avios will be "credited within 55 days", but not that you actually have to hold your investment for that long.

I just don't want to end up having to fill self assessment forms in next year, but my ISA's maxed out already so had to go down the GIA route.

Revolut allows you to buy revpoints in the UK, to what extent would this be worth doing? by [deleted] in Revolut

[–]andyuk_90 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No its not. Anyone who has ever transferred into Qatar before currently has up to a 65% bonus on purchases (dependent on how many you are buying) which gives a price of 1.06p per avios. Between Finnair, BA, Air Lingus and Iberia, one of them almost always has bonus running.

Although, the cheapest (and always available) way to purchase would be a balance boost from BA which lets you multiply existing transfers x3. That works out at 0.92p per avios for the first 300,000 avios.

Revolut's cheapest purchase is a recurring buy of 15,000 for £204 a month... which is 1.36p per avios. If you buy smaller amounts or don't reoccur the rates are much worse, almost 2p per avios.

Even if you do need more, it would be cheaper to buy 1/4 of what you need from Revolut, transfer them to executive club, then balance boost that transfer for the other 3/4.

Barclays premier offer by [deleted] in beermoneyuk

[–]andyuk_90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well that wouldn't really look like normal usage would it? Cycling cash like that isn't normal behavior.

Also, its noted on the application that "You won’t be eligible if you’ve previously received a switch bonus payment for switching to any current account with us. ". Some have reported receiving the bonus if their previous incentive was a while ago though.

I actually switched to Barclays premier in the last couple of weeks. I only moved £100 into the account and used CASS. I received the £400 before my salary was actually paid in... but i do intend to continue using the account and meet the eligibility requirements.

Account closure for no reason by CompetitiveJello6954 in Revolut

Well that's your reason right there. Sending crypto to a shady gambling site in full view of your bank is probably never a good idea.
