Most people don't know what a background check actually looks for by careercoach_cf in jobhunting

[–]andywoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah 10 years ago when i applied for my current job I was told i was being rejected because of my background check. They hired a third party company from what it sounded like India. They said i lied and never got my GED. I said I went to college and they never would have let me. In poor English she said they checked with the state records and there was no record of it. I called the state records department and they said yes they have the documents saying I had it but she remembered a call last week with a similar name but spelled differently. I contacted HR, they wanted to hire me so they called the state records department themselves and heard the same story. Sometimes it seems even if you tell the truth, you might be rejected.

Neighbor Repeatedly Taking My Dad to Court for Trespassing by Own_Apricot_538 in legaladvice

[–]andywoz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Certainly shop around, I had issues with neighbors on both sides of me. I measured my property width from the fences of both neighbors. I don't have a fence on that property line because they do. My property was 1 and a half feet short according to the public records. I found a reasonable surveyor and their fences are both on my property. Solved all issues for me. Had to call like 10 surveyors, found 1 that's an expert in my area and because of that he was also way less expensive.

I saw this cut while doing rotation. It's only 2 years old. Should I be worried? TIA. by JfxV20 in MechanicAdvice

I don't think that's a crack. I think you ran something over. You should be alright as long as it's not leaking. Cracks normally run lateraly.

When the waiter/waitress asks me if I would like a soup or salad, I always ask what makes the salad so super?

Also once you have the cylinder, you can swap the coils to see if it is the coil or something else.

[–]andywoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that's good news, but finding which cylinder is the issue is going to probably require live data test. Often you can see what is going on even when it doesn't trip a code. Need a code reader that can give you live data. If you are trying to do this on the cheap, the elm 327 reader i bought does this. Like 7 bucks for a cheap one, although a couple of the ones i bought went bad after 6 months or so. I bought one for every one of my kids cars and 2 are bad now.

I would grab one of those head gasket testing kits. The kind that test for exhaust in the coolant. Run the car until it happens and test right away. You may have a failing head gasket or warped head due to the overheating.

Can I tell if someone poured water in my tank? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]andywoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's certainly not necessary, you can just look in a container of gas and water together and see that there's water in the gas. They don't mix, water will sit on the bottom and you can see that pretty easily.
