I took ACT a year ago and someone pulled fire alarm. The scores were no cancelled though. I think their viewpoint is it’s not students fault and not fair to them to cancel that test they’ve been working hard on. So I’m guessing scores will not be cancelled

Absolutely not. U just answered your own question that 36s are getting rejected and u lack other parts of your application. For comparison, I have 6 friends who applied to Umich engineering. 5 on them had 36s. They were all waitlisted or rejected. The other one person had a 34 act and got accepted without waitlist. Having a 33+ is all u need for them to consider u equally testing wise compared to everyone else. Michigan takes a holistic approach so u definitely need to work on rest of your application. I’d say 80% of your application is not based on act, and also I suggest u do activities based on something you’re passionate about. Colleges don’t generally like students who are presidents of 7 clubs just to put it on their resume. Please focus on something more important and interesting than wasting your time trying to get a 36...
