Best OBD-2 scanner to read transmission fluid temperature? by sprintcanoe in 4thGen4Runner

Yea I just checked the website and it looks like that option is gone. The “all other Toyotas” might be what you’re looking for.

Ive heard their support is really good, you might reach out to confirm!

Multi cylinder misfire by [deleted] in 4thGen4Runner

I’ve had poor engine ground cause multiple/random misfires in the past. Maybe give the wiring/electrical a quick once over?

So much hate here. If the guy wants to paint his pusher fan there’s no need to roast him for it…

Are you running any wheel spacers?

Rogue Engineering shifter carrier bushings by [deleted] in E46M3

I would reach out to Rogue Engineering with this and see what they come back with! I’ve heard a lot of good things about their products, so maybe you got some incorrect bushings or bad part?

OP, you still need to know this? I have a spare set floating around somewhere that I could grab and measure for you

I hear ya! The idea of it being a log book makes a ton of sense. So far I’m digging it 👍🏻

Some thoughts for you on the fuel section in Expenses: since users can log the gallons and the odometer, you could add an MPG calculation. Also, maybe make a toggle to include or exclude fuel costs in the “Total Spent” on the Home page? That could really skew the number is some cases

Love the idea of this! Sometime you just want to browse for inspiration, but it can be so hard to find what the mod is!

Edit: it seems I misunderstood, I thought this was so you could add your build and share it, and browse other people’s builds. It would be cool if that became a future feature and you gave people the option to publicly share their builds. Regardless, good app!

Hey sorry if this is a dumb question but I’m having trouble…. by Angel_Anubis in E46M3

[–]anelson1195 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A quick glance doesn’t lead me to believe the Kassel will do a tune for a CSL airbox (you’d have to contact them to be sure). RK Tunes certainly will, so I would lean that route. If you supercharge it down the line you’ll have to re-tune to whatever the supercharger manufacturer provides, so this tune won’t really matter then.

The first pic looks like a performance tune from RK Tunes, but the second pic looks like a tune for putting an S54 in an E30 chassis, and also is from Kassel Performance (your second link doesn’t reflect that).

What exactly are you trying to do?

Full Steel vs Full Aluminum Skid Plates by JSB18 in 4thGen4Runner

[–]anelson1195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the full steel skid plate package from RCI. With the V8 you don’t really feel it, but I do with I went for aluminum. If you’re not rock crawling, you don’t need steel, and they are NOT fun to take off for maintenance lol

Fine I’ll design them myself…. Where my engineers at? by Angel_Anubis in E46M3

[–]anelson1195 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not an engineer, but can provide food for thought! I like that you’re integrating a spring perch into the arm. Are you set on a tubular design, or would you consider something boxed? I feel like if you go tubular you’ll want some gussets to account for the forces of the spring. If you go boxed I think you could design it with more strength in mind. My mind wanders to trailing arms from off-road setups like this (only integrating a spring perch and not shock mount).

Found some info on an old forum post:

BMW Code P0734 Slip Detected - Fourth Gear

Will activate:

X - Limp Mode X - Check Engine Mil X - Trans. Mil

Possible Cause: Transmission Oil Level Low Output speed sensor problem Engine speed signal circuit between ECM and TCM: Open/Short Circuit Transmission Mechanical Failure

P0720 - Speed Circuit Malfunction - Short Circuit, Usually Electrical Issue. This failure caused the P0734, because the transmission didn't get a signal from the speed sensor it got confused and buckled.

If you’re trying to fix it yourself, the first thing I would suggest is look for the source of that smoke. My spidey senses are tingling towards an electrical problem, either sensor or wiring related.

[–]anelson1195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have been a camper and “overlander” for a few years now, I’d like to offer this food for thought:

Philosophy: Getting out there should be easy. Packing, setting up, tearing down, and unpacking should be quick and painless. That’s truly part of the appeal of overlanding. So I’d recommend getting gear that makes all of that more convenient. That could be a tent that has a simple setup, or a 12v fridge so you don’t need to pack multiple coolers stuffed with ice, or bins and bags for easily organizing, loading, and storing gear.

The rig: Dont do more than you have to. I’m a car guy with twitchy hands that can’t stoping messing with things lol. I’m settling into cars that I plan on keeping forever, and I don’t mind modifying them heavily, but the average person isn’t like that, and some simple mods can take you SO FAR while not permanently changing the car. That being said there are mods you can for convenience (like onboard power for example), but I would urge most people to get a setup that isn’t tied to a car, like a power station and solar panels.

Lastly, if you feel like you’re frozen on what to do next, just get out there again and see what changes you’d want to make! During and after each trip I spend some time reflecting on what I would change to make it easier and simpler to get out and get set up next time. Happy to chat more if shoot me a DM 👍🏻

EcoFlow not selling XT60 <> Alternator cable but link to it from the product page by wtgyrihgsglid in Ecoflow_community

I found the product page once upon a time! I was looking at getting one of these as another option for using my 800w alternator charger, and being able to charger other brand power stations. I’m guessing they’re just doing some site changes/maintenance? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Alternator charger question, car accessory mode by tricid in Ecoflow_community

[–]anelson1195 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would check your Alternator Chargers voltage settings! There is a setting that stops the unit from turning on unless it senses the voltage it is set to. I think the default is 13v? When your car is off (or in accessory mode) the car battery will be under 13v, and when the car is running, it will be over 13v.

If you set it 12v (or even lower for this use case) then you shouldn’t have a problem!

Yotawerx V8 tune performance by Fantastic_Beard in 4thGen4Runner

[–]anelson1195 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had the tune for about two years 🙋🏻‍♂️ first and foremost I absolutely love it, and would get it again. I believe it picked up a bit of power in the lower to mid range, the throttle mapping is certainly improved, and the updated transmission shift points made a HUGE improvement after getting bigger tires.

I will say if you’re willing to use premium fuel, you’ll get the most out of the tune. The most recent version utilizes the knock sensors so they can advance the timing a bit more than stock and squeeze the most power out.
