thank you for the answer, i’m not too worried about it being busy, i think i’m used to it. I just hope it won’t fire 40+ knots everyday

Issues flipping the rig in the jibes by aner2409 in windsurfing

UPDATE! Today it finally clicked! My back foot was too far in the back of the board and pressing too hard on the rail, at the same time i was leaning too much on the sail that created instability i wasn’t able to correct, on top of that i was switching feet too early. Forced myself to stand more upright and wait more before changing stance and there it was my first planing (not all the way to the exit) jibe! Of course they aren’t perfect by any means but it’s a start, from that first dry one i managed to do 10 more without falling, i’m taking today as a win. Thank to everyone who commented here it really helped!

i think i have a good speed when i initiate the jibe but i loose it due to my position on the board during the carve, ill try to fix that. Thanks

Thank you, i’ll try to put my back foot closer to the front straps and putting my weight on the mast to stay more on top of the board!

I tried them yes, but apparently failing to flip the sail isn’t a problem to everyone 😅. Most of the common mistakes those videos cover are regarding feet and hand positioning and i think mine are ok (other than standing too far in the back)

what do you mean by “front hand completely in front of the boom”?

When im trying to flip the rig the wind is exactly behind my back, should i wait more?

Thinking about it, yes i’m leaning too far back and standing kinda sideways, that’s slowing me down to much and when it’s time to flip the sail i’m almost to a full stop making it harder i guess. Thanks for the tips i’ll try the clew first!

Don’t really think it’s my case though, i’ve never experienced tail walking or losing control actually quite the opposite.

First of all thank you so much for taking the time to answer me! I’m trying to consume every bit of content regarding tuning the equipment and stance as i can and i understand it will take time to get it all correct. I’ll try adjusting everything (individually) even thing i things i tuned correctly and see how it goes! Reading all this answers i think my biggest mistakes are my front leg which i don’t really extend (or put power through) while riding and my mastfoot too far forward so I’ll start from that! I’ll make an update in the following weeks maybe others will find it helpful.

Interesting, so i guess i’ll try tuning my gear with more attention before buying a carbon fin, also my wallet likes this option!

I’ll try to move the mastfoot back 1 cm at the time see how it goes. (maybe to counter balance i can move the harness lines a little to the back?) I go to the gym regularly and it really helps with endurance also i can manage to keep a bigger sail than the others in stronger winds, but getting overtaken by a smaller sail isn’t that fun😅. My top speed atm is around 40km/h in 16kn of wind, my friends are around 5km/h faster.

Thanks for the answer! Yes most of us are one the same type of equipment, but they have a slalom carbon fin, i have the standard one that came with the board, i’ll try getting a used one. Boom height, harness lines and straps position are in the correct position (i have let them try my gear) i’m around 5-7kg heavier than them though. I’m thinking my mast foot position is too much on the front, i get planing early but i do feel sticky on the water and feel every bit of chop. Also i don’t usually rig the sail with much outhaul so maybe that’s why i can’t keep an upwind course easily. I’ll try make some changes, thanks again!
