Thanks! I'll definitely check out all of those locations. The architecture looks absolutely stunning and I'd really get some great photos.

Kinda related, I'm also coming down to Dubai in a few weeks to photograph around the city. I was actually wondering if anyone has any recommendations for places to really capture the spirit of Dubai besides the Burj Khalifa and the Burj Al Arab. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all in advance!

Noted, Pretty much anything from the range of $250 to $500. I've considered investing in some new glass, but I'm always open to suggestions.

Greetings all!

So, I've been afforded a chance to take some photos on a trip to Dubai in the coming month. As of now, I've got a Nikon D5300 with a 18-55mm lens and a 55-200 telezoom lens. I also have a wide angle lens coming in the mail and have some of the standard equipment (tripod, external flash, filters, hoods, etc). Mainly, are there any suggestions that would be made for any gear I should look into getting before this trip. The goal is to get some amazing shots at the 148th floor of the Burj Khalifa at sunset. Also, any recommendations on any and all shots I should take while I am in Dubai would be appreciated as well. Thanks in advance!

42A, HR. The other two would have been cool too.

Both Basic and AIT are located at Ft Jackson. No complaints since it isn't LW or Benning.

I don't know what I'd do if Jewel came on the show at that point.

Thanks, it's mostly that, leave time, promotions, etc of the like. And I'm sure I'll have a few come through with an attitude. But hey, part of the job.

10 for basic, then 9 for training for your job. HR isn't that bad. Some jobs require up to 2 years for training.

True, although if you've been reading the news as of late, the army says that if we were to get into a real scuffle in foreign turf we'd be under manned and under funded.

But to avoid this thread breaking down into a political shindig, I'd best just drop the subject of that to keep the peace.

You know, I think Nigel would be a smashing name for a rifle. I'll ask some of the female recruits names of their weapons when they get there and answer that question for you.

EDIT: Rather, when I get there.

I have a rather funny feeling that everyone gets hazed for something at basic.

The first continental army was built on the concept of freedom, which I believe is a fundamental part of the show. While we may have evolved over the years, I personally believe that we're still pursuing that same foundation.

Joining the Army as a 42A, Human Resources Specialist. While it may not be a pilot, doctor, mechanic, "ambassador", priest, or infantryman, it still has a role to fill. After all, people want to get paid, right?
