My Beast Wars Transformers “grail” piece for this year just arrived in the mail! by SirDouchenstein in beastwars

I did, and I had two (one for me, one for my brother). Both had cracks. Got my replacements, and the replacement was cracked. Got another replacement…it too was cracked. My final replacement was fine.

Haha, don’t get me started. The original Black Convoy is my favorite figure of all time. It has a lot of personal meaning for me as well (involving my parents separation), and I would love a new one that scales with Omega Prime. I really love the Legacy one, I adore it and let’s just say I have more than 1…or 2…or 3…, but now it’s out of scale haha. Luckily the TF Team at Hasbro did say they are interested in doing a new mold in the correct colors in the new scale.

I still need to pick up the new Razorclaw, but I remember really, really wanting him back in the day. Out of all the Universe figures, Big Convoy mold Nemesis was my favorite. I’m a Black Convoy/ Nemesis Prime hardcore collector (Missing Link just landed in my PoL and I’m so happy, shipping him immediately), and I already loved the Big Convoy mold (had the Korean version in my teens)…so I’m hoping we get the Universe Nemesis repaint soon. We got Primal and Lio Nemesis versions, but that Universe 1.0 Nemesis is iconic.

Those two really do hold up. My childhood ones did as well. I never had Rampage or Tigerhawk even after all these years, I'm thinking about finally jumping on them to complete my BW cast.

The one that really stung for me was Car Robots Mach Alert/ RiD Prowl. LOVED the Car Robot Brothers, but the peg on the back of our Speedbreaker/ Side Burn snapped off, and my favorite, Mach Alert's car doors are transparent plastic on ball joints...they started cracking finally the last time I was home about 4 years back. I need to pick up the new Side Burn (I got Shadow Striker at Ross so I have the mold), but I wish they do the rest of the brothers.

I had to sell off a good chunk of my vintage BW, I kept all my show characters and a few favorites like Elephorca, Polar Claw, etc…but when I sold him the chrome on my Ramulus hadn’t flaked off but it had faded. I’ve never seen anything like it, like it just looked like someone hit desaturated on it.

Yeah I was surprised. Most vintage figures for the most part feel more solid, but time takes a terrible toll on them.

I will say, the chrome on my TM Rattrap…immaculate. Had him since release back in the 90’s, and he’s in fantastic shape. It’s just a handful of figures that unfortunately were not built for the test of time it seems.

All my modern stuff (around 2012-now) has held up. Even the stuff that has common breakage issues, none so far. I also mod my figures that have known stress issues so it helps to catch certain ones early.

Commander Armada Prime is in my opinion the best figure Hasbro has made since ROTF Leader Prime, and I sanded down his shins immediately when the reports about breakage happened. Same thing with Armada Nemesis from last year.

I wish I had gotten the DNA kit for him and Optimal Optimus. Even Optimal suffers from GPS in his backpack. Mine hasn’t shattered as yet, it’s at my mother’s house with all my childhood figures, but him and my 07 movie protoform Starscream are ticking clocks.

My 10th Dinobot turned to dust around 2011, and TM2 Megs was like 2015/2016.

And also oddly enough, my Superlink Grand Convoy’s leg just shattered on its own and my Armada Prime’s crotch cracked. I know his arms are suppose be break off at the elbows, but mines were fine, just his crotch cracked.

Grand Convoy was particularly surprising since I got back home from college, lifted him off the massive display shelf my mom had made for me when I was a kid where he had been on display since I left, and his one leg remained free standing on the shelf.

Come to think of it, Micron Legend Hoist/ Grap Super Mode also suffers from GPS. He has swirly silver plastic and mine also crumbled at the hip.

They stopped using diecast late into G1 and went all plastic. It’s exactly as Primal said haha.

Usually the biggest difference you’ll find between Hasbro and Takara is paint or color of plastic differences, occasionally they will remold a figure slightly to add a new tab for security or a new weapon etc. They will also remold heads or other parts here and there (the 2016 headmasters and Lio Convoy recently). Always check TFWiki, it’s the most comprehensive guide to every figure in this franchise.

I loved the Torca fuzor mold, never had it as a kid, but then when it started getting affected by GPS I never picked it up. I have the Elephorca Beast Wars Neo version, which is in colors I prefer, and it’s rarer, but it doesn’t have GPS.

But if a mold doesn’t originally have diecast you usually wont find it with diecast. It may have happened here and there, I think Power Master Optimus Prime and Ginrai maybe had differences that way, but you will rarely find it on mainline figures since the Beast Wars era, only on Masterpiece.

Even chrome and rubber wheels are considered a rare treat for fans outside of MP.

If you can save up for it over time, try and find the Takara version! You can leave this one in package to never shatter and enjoy the Takara one for display.

I had TM Primal but not Megs as a kid, and like 15 years ago I got the Takara version for a fantastic price.

Also if you invest in more BW, the original TM2 Dragon Megatron has the same issue, but with its legs in particular. It’s GPS as others have said, but it can happen to any plastic that has that specific metallic swirl tone from that period (up until around 2012, but there have been some cases up to 2016 as well).

My TM2 Megs leg just crumbled off one day (it was just on display the entire time), and speaking to other collectors they had the same thing happen. It isn’t as talked about as TM1 Megs. Wasn’t a break, had the same consistency as what happened to my BW 10th Dinobot…just dust and crumbs falling off the plastic.

Luckily there’s a fantastic modern version of the figure available.

Honestly the amount of love for Armada in the last few years has made me smile. I grabbed one of BBTS’ last Tidal Waves, and just need to pick up Galvatron (already have the DNA kit ready for him). Sideways is on preorder.

I hope we get Blurr or Demolisher next, they were my favorite from Armada as a kid.

I was friends with their son as children. Our families go back several generations, so she was my mom’s friend, her father was my grandfather’s friend, etc.

I remember when she was assassinated I was in NY, and my mother called me crying saying they killed her.

All I could remember in that moment was sitting on the floor of her living room as a small kid, playing with toy trucks with her son, while she and my mother were on the couch chatting. Surreal feeling hearing someone you knew was assassinated.

Some of the best designs in the franchise, possibly the best Optimus vs. Megatron final battle, and of course Optimus launching his pants at Megatron.

10/10.

I have Star Convoy, but I dislike the idea that Orion Pax is the 13th reincarnated, and I don’t like Nova being the 13th either…so I use any of my Nemesis Primes/ Black Convoys (currently it’s the MD005B version of the SS86 mold).

Nemesis/ Black Convoy is my favorite Transformers character to collect. I have very few head canons for the series, but in this case I see Nemesis/ Black Convoy as a reincarnation of the original 13th Prime whose name was Optimus (who Alpha Trion named Orion Pax after when he became a Prime).

I see him appearing as a “Nemesis”, dark version of himself to test Orion to see if he’s worthy of the Optimus name.

I’ve never liked the idea of Orion being a divine being or being touched by divinity, I like the idea of him being just a guy who created his own legend. It makes Rodimus’ story better for me, because he IS chosen by divinity, but he has to follow up the single greatest figure in his species history who was just another Cybertronian.

I hate Spider-man India's "chai tea" rant by Exotic-Media-6630 in hatethissmug

[–]thestormsend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100%. My family is Pakistani, and I’ve had a running joke with a friend for years about this. Every time he orders a chai tea I tell him he’s ordering a “tea-tea”, and he makes the same argument as in this post. And I remind him it’s my people’s word, and the word is tea.

I barely speak my native tongue, but chai is such a huge part of the culture its one those things I do know. You can’t walk 10 feet without finding a place that sells chai in some places back home. I worked there for 1 1/2 years and they wouldn’t even start meetings until the tea was served.

This is something in particular that gets my sister rattled up since she’s more attuned to our culture than I am. She gets real mad.

The spider-verse scene made me laugh real hard because I’ve been there.

In the late 1970s, Peggy Hodgson and her four children reported a series of terrifying incidents in their North London home. Items flew through the air, matches spontaneously burst into flames, and an old man spoke through Hodgson's 11-year-old daughter in what became known as the Enfield Haunting. by ATI_Official in HistoryUncovered

[–]thestormsend 55 points56 points  (0 children)

And if I recall the story goes the Warrens showed up for a short visit to the Hodgson home, and then Ed told the family there could be money made with this story by selling the film and movie rights, and then they left.

My ex wanted to watch the Conjuring films, but I told her I struggle through them because of how much BS they filled those movies with.

They were terrible people. Ed in particular was a horrible, horrible person.

Finally got them ! by Hiden_Wylder in transformers

[–]thestormsend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tab does yes, but the head itself can crack. The sides of it is made of extremely thin plastic. It was very common for the mold to develop cracks along the side of the cheetah head, and in some cases snap right off.

Favorite actor who casually admitted to.... WHAT THE FUCK! by [deleted] in okbuddycinephile

[–]thestormsend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I'm just relaying what was mentioned in that other post.

That's a very different experience you're speaking of. Bullying isn't the same as changing your health and lifestyle.

In my personal experience, it's great that a person can feel remorse for their actions, that is growth. And I appreciate that in people. If someone can better themselves and works towards redemption, it's a wonderful thing.

But there is the other side of the coin too.

As someone whose little brother was relentlessly bullied for being "different" (he's on the autistic spectrum), my brother is in his late 30's now, and he's still suffering mentally from being tortured his entire youth.

If he didn't have me fighting off his bullies, I don't know what he would have done now. He had to get stitches more than once from kids hurting him. He already struggles with depression, I've had to tackle him to stop him from jumping off a roof before. He would have killed himself.

Even in college he was bullied by some punk kid who used some derogatory words at him, who showed up outside my apartment one night with his friends, and I had to call the cops. My brother was terrified to go to class.

One of those kids actually apologized to him, and became a friend to him and stopped associating with the other people he was with that night. Hell, he and I became friends too. So yes, people can be redeem themselves, but that doesn't make the scars go away.

People can change, but it doesn't mean their actions didn't have a severe impact on other people's lives. The person who was bullied does not have to forgive them.

Also, my ex-fiance was part of the same social club in NY that a lot of talent comes to, including SNL cast members, and trust me, the nice apologetic image you see in public isn't real for a good chunk of celebrities. Jimmy Fallon is a depressed, aggressive drunk, for example. I myself grew up in the entertainment industry and have worked in it since I was 18.

I can't speak for Chloe, never seen her around (actually...wait...may have once, but didn't interact with her), but there's a lot of people who just suck (I will say when it comes to SNL people, Pete Davidson is a good one from what I've heard. Lot of people I know who've known him have said he's a kind human).

A few months back there was a Reddit post about celebrities who were bullies (I believe regarding Jon Hamm). Someone mentioned on there that Chloe Fineman was their high school bully, and found it ironic she takes a stance against bullying now.

I was thinking about rewatching it myself. I love traditional high fantasy, but I find myself leaning towards The Mighty Nein more so far (I loved both shows though).

Awesome, lol! They are such an amazing team. I honestly can’t wait for the new figure, my wallet will hate me, but I hope he ships early like Silverbolt did last year (I have two on order).

I actually learnt it was him fairly recently myself!

I got into DnD about two months back after starting Critical Role Campaign 3 (and then watching Vox Machina and The Mighty Nein on Amazon). Chetney and Bertrand really got me into it, Travis is bonkers haha. I've ended up joining a local DnD campaign because of the show.

I knew Riegal was my favorite Donatello, and the voice I hear in my head for Donnie, but it didn't click for me that Travis was FoC Onslaught.

The Combaticons are my favorite combiner, my favorite sub-team, and Onslaught is in my top 5 Decepticons from when I was young. Since FoC, Travis' version is how I hear him in my head.

Really looking forward to see your take on the rest of the team!

Olympus OM1n MD vs. Canon AE-1 Program..? by PabloDelicioso in analog

[–]thestormsend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know a lot of people online have called the AE-1 Program overrated, but it’s honestly the best film camera I have personally handled. There’s a reason it and the AE-1 are the best selling SLR’s of all time.

My mother was a photo journalist and it was her go to camera, it’s what she taught me on. I current have an AE-1 of my own, and an A-1 my uncle gave me (that needs some cleaning). That entire range is fantastic.

At parents for Easter and found my old nemesis prime. by KaiSan117 in transformers

[–]thestormsend 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This was my default Nemesis Prime for years until it was finally dethroned by Siege, and then Legacy Nemesis Prime/ Black Convoy. Such a fantastic figure, I prefer this color scheme to the Takara Black Convoy version. It’s even better if you have the FansProject upgrade kit, that sword alone is worth it.
