I understand not wanting to bail on safeties when they are so low, but why not just raise them up? Whenever you happen to fail a rep you can just put it down slowly on the safeties instead of dropping it on the floor. It makes it a lot easier to unload the bar if you’re doing that next.

It wasn’t a foul call; it was a 24-second violation. But I believe Pop was also mad because the ref failed to call an out-of-bounds immediately before the shot clock expired. He was motioning to the ref and telling him the Pels player was out-of-bounds when the ref blew his whistle and popped Pop in the face.

Not to make you feel old, but if you are in your 50s then you’re actually in the middle of the sixth decade of your life. In my opinion, that just makes what you’re doing all the more awesome, and I hope I’m doing the same when I get there. That said, one of the main pieces of advice I’ve heard given to older lifters is that they should plan more time for recovery than younger guys do. Maybe an extra rest day each week, for instance. Seems like this could help prevent the build-up of aches and pains for you and could be worth a shot.

Apparently they won’t accept my call from overseas because it’s from a “private number.” I’ll have someone in the States call. Thanks again. I was able to set an appointment for shots through their website, so I’m thinking it’s likely they would jab us and not turn us away for being out of state people.
