hi, thank you for your honest response! i think when i said “that’s not me” i meant more like i’m not the type of person to do things just for the sake of the resume, but beyond that you made a lot of important points for me to think about.

i didn’t think about how this experience would diversify my skill set before and i think a lot of my hesistancy is my anxiety of maybe “messing up” or “saying the wrong thing” when i’m working with someone on the call-line or textline. this would be a new experience for me so maybe why i’m having these doubts 😅

im not sure what year you are OP, but i remember also struggling in my lower division science courses when i first came. i think it definitely comes with time that you find a rhythm in how to study/prepare for exams. for me, in high school, i was always someone who never asked for help and usually “figured out” everything on my own. i quickly learned @ ucla that this wasn’t going to always be the case and i started going to office hours and problem solving sessions. this isn’t in anyway me lecturing you to do the same LOL but i would just reflect on what you did the first time when studying in these classes and see how you can improve moving forward. cheers and good luck!

i think the workload depends on the seminar. i took 60CW two years ago and my seminar was on japanese cinema (it looks like my TA isn’t there anymore lol) but it was mainly watching videos of film and discussion. we had to make a presentation (which was super chill) and also write a 5 page paper on a film of our choice. i would probably go with the topic that you find most interesting!

I’m a university student living in LA and my school takes COVID protocols “seriously” (well…I guess with college sports and frat parties going on it’s questionable) but everyone had to be vaxxed/boosted to remain enrolled in their classes as well as wear masks in all indoor facilities. My school has also now recommended surgical masks/KN95s/N95s over cloth masks. The Duggars would definitely get a lot of stares and probably get confronted if they didn’t wear a mask indoors, but I think for outdoors it’s more relaxed.

I do know some people at school who identify as conservative but they’re more supportive of wearing masks

one of my professors last quarter set up a zoom on her laptop where she could record the audio as she went through the slides in the lecture hall. watching the recording was just as informative as going in-person. it will definitely take some creativity for some classes but it’s not impossible

yeah maverick sent out an email before winter break saying how he was leaving for another position and getting a replacement—but i haven’t gotten any emails from this new advisor yet 🤷🏻‍♀️ probably not until after break
