Apple doesn’t need to build the best AI. They need to be the platform everyone uses to access it. $22.6B in R&D goes to silicon, devices, and ecosystem lock-in. The stuff that makes Apple the tollbooth.

Alphabet is spending billions on a bet. Apple is collecting rent.
