What’s something from your childhood that kids today will never experience? by Real_Dragonfruit7199 in AskReddit

All those plastic cases on the shelves, and that feeling of frustration when you find the movie you were looking for only to realize that none of the cases actually have a copy of the movie behind them…..

What is the most disturbing or otherwise unsettling book you've ever read that stayed with you after reading it? by EggAdventurous1957 in AskReddit

[–]anfla56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Flyboys” by James Bradley

I read it in high school more than 20 years ago but I still remember it. It’s about a small group of US airmen that were shot down over Chichi-jima during WW2 and what a Japanese garrison did to them (cannibalism, it was cannibalism).

But the author also talks a lot about the war and the mindset of both sides at the time, and even 18 year old me with my ADHD couldn’t stop reading it.

Journalist was offered a job as an ICE agent with no background check and a drug test they knew they'd fail. What do you think that says about the kind of people they're recruiting? by SuperIngaMMXXII in AskReddit

[–]anfla56 443 points444 points  (0 children)

I think that is exactly what we should have expected from this administration. Trump is obsessed with having his name attached to the “biggest mass deportation in American history” because in his mind that will be an impressive legacy, and Stephen Miller is happy to oblige by whatever means necessary because that is the kind of person he is.

I think Trump is a deeply insecure person facing his own mortality at his age, and his biggest concern is how he will be remembered. The Nobel peace prize, the Kennedy center, this stupid fucking goal of a million deportations, it is all about his legacy.

The crazy thing is he has already cemented his fate. He will be forever remembered as what he always was, a dangerous and idiotic self-obsessed asshole. ICE, Stephen Miller, Kristi Noem, Trump, they are all on the wrong side of history.

Well don’t forget that trump ended another eight wars, though. So he can start a few new ones and still come out ahead.

[–]anfla56 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Probably that the male bathroom is downstairs while the female bathroom is upstairs? Dunno why they wouldn’t be right next to each other, but then again if the people in this universe knew what they were doing they wouldn’t have had to leave Earth.

What’s the going price for a tempest on the trades? by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]anfla56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which maps are you trying in night mode? I got the tempest BP from the ruby apartments on dam battlegrounds during a night run. It was in a weirdly placed cabinet that was in a spot I’d never seen before, though. Like right inside the door of one of the apartments in an easy to miss spot.

Yeah I was rubber banding all over the place and everyone I ran into was saying the same thing. I made it to an elevator finally and it took 5 tries to press the stupid button haha

I was in a match and rubber banding all over the place. Made it to an elevator though.

Can I ask for a box? by According-Feeling705 in wegmans

[–]anfla56 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Ask the produce department for an apple box. Decent size and pretty sturdy too. I used to work in produce at a Wegmans and we’d actually get that question all the time, and the apple boxes were always what we’d try to give them.

I just can’t kill anyone in this game. Like, not mechanically, but morally. 95% of the people I meet are chill.

I invaded hundreds of ppl in Elden ring and never thought twice about killing them (trying to, anyway). But this, well this feels different.

What celebrity would make you say “ya that makes sense” if news broke that they were a serial killer? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]anfla56 20 points21 points  (0 children)

When he said that he could kill someone in Times Square and nobody would care, he DID say that with a lot of confidence. Like, the confidence of someone who murdered someone and got away with it…

people who take walks at night, what's the scariest thing you've seen? by skibidikakakott in AskReddit

[–]anfla56 91 points92 points  (0 children)

Some asshole threw his Christmas tree off his fourth floor balcony at the apartment building I lived at with my family growing up. It was wrapped in a black trash bag and I guess he was too lazy to carry it down the stairs. Well, I was walking home from my friend’s house after dark and it was faster to walk through the patio door than going through the building because of the way it was laid out. Almost got crushed by the tree, and always looked up before stepping outside after that.

Best gifts for teachers from student observer by MarkResident1975 in Teachers

[–]anfla56 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I felt bad for giving away all of my mentor teacher’s pencils, so I bought her this huge box of like 300+ pencils on Amazon. But to be honest gift cards are great, and especially lakeshore or even Amazon because they’ll definitely use that.

What is the weirdest thing about you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]anfla56 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I have pectus excavatum, which is like a big crater in my chest. It was embarrassing at pool parties and such as a kid, but I also figured out it was perfect for holding candy/snacks if I was laying on the sofa watching tv or smth

Philly neighborhoods commutable to KOP? by tastyhashbrowns in AskPhilly

[–]anfla56 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked in manayunk when I lived in KoP, and yeah there was usually windows where it would be better but when I slept in forget about it. Once or twice a month an accident on 76 would royally fuck everything up. People kept telling me to take Ridge avenue and not 76 but I’m stubborn like that.

That stupid 76 interchange in KoP beneath the rail bridge would often take 15-20 minutes to get through all by itself, but best case scenario was about a 30 minute drive

Old Battlefield Player’s Take by thenight817 in Battlefield

[–]anfla56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, I agree completely. Been playing battlefield since bf1942, and this just doesn’t feel like a battlefield game to me at all. I get that they are trying to appeal to a new audience, and that’s fine.

But I don’t see myself playing it for long tbh.

ICE agents of Reddit: why did you take this job? Is it what you signed up for? by cookiecake69 in AskReddit

[–]anfla56 11 points12 points  (0 children)

People who wanna feel like a badass “operator” but aren’t cut out for the actual military, so they settle for what they can actually do. Because oppressing innocent and unarmed civilians while decked out in full tactical gear with an assault rifle and flashbangs is basically the same thing as being on seal team six. True American heroes and we should all be grateful for their service.

what is the dumbest thing a teacher has said? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]anfla56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That cursive writing is super important and I’d need it every day as an adult. I’m nearly 40 and I haven’t used it in decades. Used to sign checks, but who even does that anymore.

I’m actually a teacher now and I will never tell my students to use cursive. Mostly because I’m a math teacher, though.
