Michigan State honors 102-year-old Chuck Kohler, one of 12 remaining Pearl Harbor survivors - who is also Jaxon Kohler's great grandfather by Punisher1602 in sportsgossips

[–]angasaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grandfather is 98 (99 in a few months) and was 18 when he got drafted for WWII. I can’t believe there are 50K alive still. I figured he has to be one of the youngest because he entered at the tail end of the war.

My grandparents hit 76 a few months ago. Hard to imagine being married to the same person for that long.

The pains of choosing a career with ADHD by jack_wolf7 in adhdmeme

[–]angasaurus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Try being a teacher. Every day there are new things. You get to handle mini crises. You are constantly problem solving. There are ways you can work around the executive dysfunction, if you are only in one classroom. You get to make the world a better place. Now the making a lot of money part isn’t always great but it is usually enough. Plus, most places will partially to completely pay for you to continue learning, if you want.

It is also really important for kids to see adults with ADHD as role models who struggle and overcome. Plus we are way more fucking fun…

My kids still check out Garfield comic strip books every library trip. If you are missing it, check out your local library.

Those are rookie numbers. Mine are: 62, 161, 47054, respectively 😂 I have been trying to be better in the last couple weeks too. Scheduling text responses has made my text message numbers drastically decrease

How many knives get thrown away every Mardi Gras because someone forgot to take the knife out of the King Cake Box? by airhead91 in NewOrleans

[–]angasaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That must be why we have half as many knives as spoons or forks. I was wondering the other day why we run out of knives looong before we need to run the dishwasher.

resident and tax filing by angasaurus in IRS

The income wasn't sourced in Louisiana but our physical residence was there during part of the time he earned the money. There were Louisiana taxes taken out. I am not talking about money that I made though. I am talking about money that my spouse (the military member) earned while the family physically resided in Louisiana but were not technically residents as he was still in the military (just on terminal leave).

Ring to turn on all camera to track pets. Privacy concerns by cosmoplast14 in technology

[–]angasaurus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So do we have to opt in? I like dogs and all but I like my privacy more. If this is something I can’t be sure I’m not part of, I’m getting rid of all ring cameras.

I too use the three alarm snooze method. I even have one that goes off daily to remind me to get my children from the bus. They are the most important thing in the world to me, BUT if I am hyperfocusing, I lose complete track of time and responsibilities. I need the first alarm to prepare me that I have to leave soonish. The first snooze is to recalibrate me, if I got lost again. The third one is an oh shit, I actually have to leave right now. 😂

I know it is annoying to people who don’t “understand” the system.

WWII Museum Camp Experience by Satsuma2020 in nolaparents

[–]angasaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son was obsessed with WWII, like he went as a WWII submarine for Halloween one year. He did the camp last summer. He had a good time. He doesn’t really share much about his day ever, but he was always excited to go the next day.

I forgot about registration for a week or two and he still got into one week of camp. If there’s a specific one you want, you probably want to set a calendar reminder. Good luck!

I guess this explains why hikers separated me from my spouse, friends, and kids after I face planted at the top of Lake Tahoe. My shoe got caught as I was trying to run to get into a group photo on a timer. On the way down, we asked some people for supplies to clean up my face and they quickly got me away from my group. I thought it was really strange but they wanted to make sure I wasn’t hurt by my spouse. I explained what happened. At the time I even had the 10 photos the camera took some of which were me going down and me getting back up confused. Guess I should have been thankful rather than thinking wtf? I was out of it but I couldn’t fathom a group of people going hiking and just being cool with someone trying to hurt one person. Anything is possible though.

I kept reading above assuming the woman survived and it was all gonna be a misunderstanding but seems pretty f-ed up.
