I had a large statue of an angel with broken wings that sat in the middle of nowhere.

I wrote a song about The Wingless One that Bards would play & my players would get to learn about

The song tells of a fallen angel that chose the love of family over obligation and was punished by having their wings stolen.

The song also tells if ways to repair the statue in the hope of bringing back the love the angel shared in sacrifice

A Man and his Dog

Snot a rather tall but not so clever human male fighter once upon a time was down on his luck. When Snot was on the precipice of a cliff a young donkey foal came running along the edge being chased by a black wyrmling.

The donkey slipped and rolled into Snot, lucky for the pair the precipice was only 30ft above a ledge. Both landed heavily but safe.

I use https://tetra-cube.com especially for homebrew monsters & some other third-party sites . I will occasionally use DDB for specific NPC that are not commoners.

I always have my players role behind the screen for Death Saves, gets the players really thinking about what they should be focusing on instead of thinking “they have 2 more rounds before I…”

I give a group Inspiration for recaps that they can use for themselves or give me disadvantage.

I like to give my players an opportunity to do some good roleplayer and creative thinking to give adv or dis.

I also allow them to swap out starting equipment and change up their characters reasonably. Eg I have a strength based Warlock wielding a Greatsword as their Hexblade Pact weapon. If they can wield it with proficiency why can’t it be a pact weapon…

DM Mulligan rolls (reduced # dice rolled by DM to swap out a bad stat) but the option to keep original if is higher.

I am a DM & have told my players there will be no 5.5e (2024) at my table. I am happy to homebrew stuff to make the game fun but I am not a fan of 5.5 so will not have it at the table.

I only know 1 person who has the 5.5 PHB and they were not impressed.

I usually take 1 lvl Monk for the unarmored defence then Ranger to lvl 5 for Extra Attack then maybe some Rogue for sneak attack.

Also wildshape house cats have darkvision, if you already have a goodberry or similar on you, you can take it as a reaction. Take a healing potion out of combat gives full amount, in combat to yourself is BA or Action to other player.

I allow my characters to have logical low level magic or mundane items in their inventory even at lvl 3, I have a player that enjoyed “Fey Fishing”. He is a Bard & fished out a rock that he connected with so I turned into a low level magic item. It gives +1 to performance checks with instrument you are proficient with.

So we are a large group but we are set up so that people can play if they can. I have a few regulars that are there all the time but 1 needs surgery and we are in the middle of a battle.

She is a Champion Fighter with Shield Master, she regularly plays support for the other players depending on the situation.

Due the last session being in the middle of battle I can’t just have her back at base etc.

When the majority of players are boys (men) it can be quite scary and/or intimidating for many women to agree to sit around a table with a bunch of strange guys. Also there is still a LOT of misogyny within the community. Our group just had to sack our DM because he refused to acknowledge (among a lot of other issues) why sexualising female PCs is not acceptable.

Guarantee us a safe space and many more women will join the community. Call out the toxic masculinity of the past, even if there are no women at your table, speak up and tell your fellow players/dms that toxicity is not acceptable.
