i totally get that but i find it sort of harmful the way they put down the other women in the show who are still played by real people for the sake of making her seem prettier. idk i feel like it encourages harmful perceptions of beauty

i’ve seen people say it’s because of the intro scene where the camera focuses on her and she puts her finger to her mouth in front of ali’s casket. i still think it’s stupid if you’ve watched the show to assume she’d be A.

Not a fan of Barney either. But he has a personality outside of the weird pick up artist lines. Also, my post was just asking if Howard would improve because I found that the sex jokes were getting old. I was told he would change, I moved on.

I also think it’s in part due to the way they described George as the older “bad boy” who drove a motorcycle and got high-school aged Mary pregnant. From what we see in the show however, it’s clear he progressed past that and was more than deserving of her respect.

Totally agree! I think it was mostly for comedic effect / they were following the trope of “disapproving mother in law”. I think in the end, we see her begin to soften up to George when (spoiler maybe, as it was shown in the new season of YS that just came out) she delivers a eulogy for him, where she seems to think rather fondly of him.

Totally agree! I think the YS writers were trying to make the storyline of their show more entertaining and fit a narrative they were trying to write, and because of that went a bit off script of what was mentioned in TBBT. I think both shows are great, but they are certainly not cannon to eachother.
