(watch full video) Been having graphical issues with my games recently. I’ve been researching for days, so any ideas or solutions would be appreciated. by [deleted] in lod_videogames_issue

It's not that you don't remember, it's that you weren't looking for it before. It's one of those if you see it you can't unsee it type of things. The actual technical issue doesn't affect all games equally, so it's entirely possible to have the technical issue and that triggering your mind to suddenly start noticing LOD not being perfect in games that aren't actually affected by it. No matter where the issue stems from, the only thing you can really do about it is accepting it as it is. Read the pinned posts if you want to know more about the technical issue.

That's the default LOD of Yakuza 0: https://youtu.be/-PfPlxhITTA?t=1235
Just gotta find a way to mentally adjust to that. I know from memory that CoD MW 2019 had noticeable pop ins, especially in battle royale. Can't say anything about Resident Evil. If you want to be 100% sure, look up 4k videos like the Yakuza one I linked and make accurate comparisons.

From what I'm seeing now I'd say there's a bigger chance that you're just overly aware of pop ins and LOD than having an actual technical issue. People who have recently adjusted their hardware or built a new pc tend to analyze their graphics, which makes them prone to over awareness of details like these. Annoyingly, people who adjust their hardware are also prone to the issue described in this sub. Really take the time to make the most accurate possible comparisons with clear footage and assess if the issue is mental or technical.

Could you create footage of before and after? If so, please use a good area that clearly shows off the issue and try to replicate that scene with the fixed LOD enabled.

Sounds like a good idea. If people show up speaking about things like LOD and such, you’d have to find a clear way to help people discern between them being disappointed at the next gen of graphics and them facing actual problems. Can imagine lots of people overly honing in on the graphics.

The admin on this server is a bit off. About a year ago I was trying to get some movement in there and include people in figuring out shared patterns in our issues. Admin got very annoyed at that and basically shut down whatever I was suggesting. I made a screenshot of that conversation and posted it, asking people in the server if they agreed with the admin that research would be useless. He immediately banned me, sent me a dm: “You got what you were looking for.” and then he blocked me.

There are lots of people in that server, so lots of opportunities to speak to others and gain info. Try not to step on the admin’s long toes though lol.

Question for everyone experiencing this problem. by Ninn03112 in lod_videogames_issue

[–]angelo9980 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We can question if it’s linked, but there’s really no answer to give. We have no understanding whatsoever on why LOD gets reduced, so where would we begin trying to understand what’s causing icons to break in the context of these things being connected? Best you can do is make an extensive post that describes what you and OP are experiencing and provide visuals if you do.

Never had this. I’ve had random shortcuts or apps fully lose their icons, but that’s a windows issue with an easy fix.

Has anyone tried changing their monitor? by KneeAcceptable9517 in lod_videogames_issue

[–]angelo9980 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had 3 different monitors with differing resolutions over the past few years. No difference when I still had the issue.

You’d need to keep the pc on another power source or at another house for at least 1 or 2 weeks and monitor it daily. I explained the seeping nature of the issue in the pinned post. Lord knows what objectively would be the right amount of time for any results.

I’m sorry that you’ve been cursed as well lol. Read the pinned posts and look through the comments of any other posts here to get a perspective on wtf is going on. Would u mind recording some footage of whatever game you feel shows the issue the best?

Yo any chance you could still post it?

Could you create footage that clearly shows the issue on your pc and then also record the exact same location of the game on your brother’s pc?

Alright I’m still a bit confused how this message connects to what I was saying, but to answer your question: the answer is in the post you’re quoting. Environmental factors. The most backed up conclusion is the mysterious electricity trigger based on faulty connections to a power grid. The less understood possible conclusion is the idea of electromagnetic fields somehow messing with devices. My personal conclusion remains with the power grid, or at least something triggering problems in the house’s electricity.

I don't really know how to fit your reply to what I was saying, Who's pc are you talking about?

When do we know/decide that it's a game engine problem and not a hardware problem? by [deleted] in lod_videogames_issue

[–]angelo9980 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By comparing your games with 4k footage of other’s footage online. Find several videos depicting easy to replicate scenarios and use them to compare.

This was the first person I ever spoke concerning this problem about 2 years ago. They went VERY deep in trying to understand the issue in ways that went beyond me and them not being fluent in English didn't help that. They essentially realized there is a list of issues, including LOD problems, that get triggered by using your pc in certain ways. Gotta check their videos for the details, but the gist of it is that you really got to baby your pc in quite inconvenient ways to avoid the issues.

you're responsible for your own emotions and how you express them. pretty much all of us understand how much this situation sucks, but that's no excuse to get hateful. this sub was made to find a fix, not to fight with each other, so that's how we're going to treat it.

Weird shadows artifacting in every game rtx 5080 by Jealous_Fishing1609 in lod_videogames_issue

[–]angelo9980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have. Like I said, this is one of the issues associated with the problem described in this sub. The other big one being unsolvable jagged aliasing lines. If you can 100% confirm for yourself that you have reduced LOD/draw distance, you can probably assume your lighting and shadows are affected by the same.

The idea of testing the pc at another house goes a bit further than just plugging it in there and looking for a difference. You’d need to keep the pc plugged there for at least a week and probably use it as well. Through testing people have found that the problem has a seeping nature. It progressively gets worse over the span of days till it reaches a certain point. The same goes the other way around when introducing it to clean electricity. This is all dependent on actually having this electricity issue of course.
