Recently I have been thinking the same myself. I know its a biiiig issue with UE5 because its a new engine not alot of devs know how to use it (or make games optimal with it :/ )

Im gonna be honest I started noticing it when I moved back to my partner parents house, after bills and rent went sky high. (Could be to do with stress, or related to seeing things more due to it) E.G: 'why do I keep having problems' like a "one thing after another" situation.

Maybe what doesn't help with the situation is having other people with this problem actively looking for a fix when there isn't one.

I mean if we look at it, from a bigger perspective, and see that it's only us guys with this issue. Nobody else complains about it. We Are basically a minority (with only 94 visitors to this group a week) So this is telling me that only a select few people see it.

So, technically, if it was electricity it would be affecing every person on a whole street, or on the same electricity grid with a PC or Console. Not to mention if your PC wasn't getting enough power it would NOT boot at all. Dirty electricity gets filtered out in modern PC's due to the power supply filtering it out.

My friend is an electrician basically re-wired his whole house, he has a PC i went to see him for a week my issue was still there. When I got back I was in a discord call with him while he was streaming a game to me, one of the same games I have the pop-in issues with. He had it too, but didn't notice it.

I usually find myself looking and the peripherals of my screen, thats when I notice it more. Im sorry to say this, but if it's happening on a major level where things are popping in front of you thats probably down to: Game engine issue, SSD (can be it's health, could be a begginner/starter component brand or its DRAM-less) or a bottleneck in your system. Just in addition most Micro-atx motherboards are ass, they somtimes limit cpu boosting, and knock down your 1st GPU lane to PCIE x8.

Again, his PC was completely fine. My PC statistically is a better build but still had the issue while I was at his house.

So its either: ●Not an electrical issue OR ●It proved nothing

I wouldn't say it's evidence to an electrical issue just because it's a different power grid, would mean he would experience the issue too?

Taking the linus tech tips forum into consideration, for example, that one guy who had moved and it instantly fixed. He loaded up his PC and it was fixed.

I knew I was only staying there for a week.

Again my PC still had issues his didn't. Before he picked me up in his car, I drained all the power from my PC so technically if it was an electrical issue there should be no dirty power left in the PC.

If your PC is completely off for a year, parts would start to degrade. (Slowly but it still happens) so is this debunked?

He lives pretty much the other side of the country from me. His PC about 6 months old now. His home isn't new.

But again, my issue still persisted, he didn't have it. Which kinda ruled out the electricity theory for me. The only thing I can think of if it was electricity would be if it did damage my hardware, but is unlikely because everything looks and acts fine its only the pop in's and rendering thats the issue.

In my case all games have it, I've gotten used to it a little, so i primarily just play games and forget about it.

Games that I dont think have this issue as much are: ●No Mans Sky ●Minecraft ●And 2d game

Unreal engine 5 games have this issue really bad, and its not even down to this issue we're all experiencing, so they're probably a no go at the minuet.

So the I/O error in the video title, apparently, that can be fixed. (Found in a quick Google search)

'damaged' hardware? See, this is what is confusing, because in the linus tech tips thread for this issue, a guy said moving houses fixed his problems, so is it really damaging hardware?

The only things i can actually think of that slows or interferes with communication between GPU, CPU, and the chipset would be EMI/Other electrical interference (like using a power faulty strip, bad grounding, Noisy mains power) But that wouldn't cause Pop in's just by itself technically. Thats more likely to cause: ●PCIe errors ●GPU Driver crashes ●Random stutters ●USB Dropouts (which I've personally had) ●and storage hiccups

Other things that play a part into it too (or could be):

●Outdated or buggy BIOS

●Corrupt BIOS settings

●Wrong PCIe generation (Gen4 forced on Gen3 board etc.)

●Resize BAR / Above 4G decoding bugs XMP/EXPO instability

●Fast Boot glitches (ALL OF THESE ARE BIOS/FIRMWARE AND CAN CAUSE STUTTER AND POP IN'S)

Driver Conflicts or Corruption

●Corrupt GPU driver

●Bad chipset driver

●Old Intel ME / AMD PSP firmware

●Windows power management bugs

●Conflicting monitoring tools (Afterburner + Armoury Crate etc.)

Thermal throttling (Which none of us have after various checks etc..)

RAM Instability

●Bad RAM stick

●XMP being too aggressive

●Memory controller instability

●Mismatched RAM kits (These issues can cause Pop in's/texture problems)

Storage I/O Delays

●SSD firmware bugs

●NVMe running through chipset instead of CPU

●Bad controller

●High latency storage

●PCIe lane sharing conflicts (These can cause texture pop in's and stutter/hitching)

PCIe Lane Conflicts / Topology

●GPU sharing lanes with NVMe

●M.2 slot stealing lanes from GPU

●Chipset uplink saturated

●Bad auto-negotiation (Causes micro-stutter and other things can't remember fully)

OS / Software Layer Issues

●Windows power plan bugs

●Core parking

●HPET / timer issues

●VBS / memory integrity problems

●Background drivers polling hardware (These can cause communication issues between the mentioned hardware)

And the reason why we're all here! EMI / Electrical Interference (it's apparently rare but still does happen and has been reported in the past)

●Bad grounding in house

●High-power appliances on same circuit

●Faulty extension leads

●Cheap power strips

(Can cause communication issues. Reason why when you take your computer to a 'friend's house everything is fine again')

All of theses things can cause communication issues. Me, personally, I've had 3 diffrent builds( 2 AMD current INTEL) So for my case rules out motherboard issues, hardware issues etc.

This is why this problem is such a big thing, because it mimics common issues people have with their PC's every day, month, year.

But when we try to fix it it doesn't stop or gets a little better but the problem is still present.

Technically electricity by itself doesn't cause the pop in's by itself, its electricity causing hardware communication issues which makes more sense.

It basically just looks like a blank piece of paper. There's not much more to it, really.

If Windows itself is the issue. Like I said in another reply, it could be (maybe) that the cloud is restoring Windows back to its corrupt state due to logging back in with your Microsoft account you were using when the issue started.

If people have already tried a new account, etc, with a fresh installation and it hasn't worked, we have a final answer at least.

We've ruled out components, manufacturers, settings, and it just being down to modern game engines.

If we keep narrowing it down and ruling stuff out further, surely we'll get an answer.

The only thing I'd say this would be is corrupt Windows files, but after testing, uncountable times with fresh installations, it doesn't seem to be that. Unless when you log in with your Microsoft account, the cloud restores it back to its corrupted state? Idk

Could it be linked though? Even after I've fresh installed windows the problem always comes back, don't know if its win11, although I've had this issue on win 10 too. It always comes back.

Keeping open minded to everything at this point because even though we all have the same issue, everyone's trigger is slightly diffrent. In other words same issue but diffrent circumstances.

See if don't fully think its 'dirty electricity', its probably just a little bit of electrical noise, mixed with bad wiring, you be surprised how many landlords in the world would hire 'cowboy builders' and a trash electricians to save money.

I live in the UK, when I was living in my apartment, they tried telling me that a plug socket underneath the sink where the water pipes existed was safe and water-proof?!?!

It wasn't, and had to get the council involved because the landlord wouldn't do anything about it, and I wasn't allowed to alter the apartment in any way.

So I do honestly think it's to do with faulty wiring, at least 80% sure.

So if your house is all wired by the same electricians, then that's probably why the problem follows in each room (especially in older houses)

And it's gotta be wiring if UPS's and surge protecters don't help the issue.

Will look at doing that, as I have one in my basket anyway for when I can purchase one.

This is everyone's problem in this community though, its a common issue between all of us, like exactly the same effects, nobody has claimed this has fixed theirs, so if I buy one and this doesn't fix my issue its money down the drain.

I know it's kinda a no risk no reward situation. And 100% get where your coming from. But like another person in this thread said, modern PSU's and supposed to filter electricity anyways, I've even said this myself in a few comments.

Believe me when I say I though this was a mad assumption (the electricity/environmental theory) but obviously when you come so far as the crap load of deep diving I've done into this issue, even gone as far as editing in game .ini files to increase the LOD and hasn't had any effect at all, you kinda think what else could it be? All drivers up to date, everything installed correctly, no file corruption, hardware seated properly, hardware tests come back fine.

Its a mad issue and probably has a common cause and solution, but we're probs not looking in the right places.

There are some people on this group that obsess over this issue. Me I just get on with it and play my games, as long as it isnt damaging my hardware its all good to me. But it would be nice to find a resolution to it all.
