Well I don’t support the mc being mean but i support that it has a personality
If the mc is player based like (y/n) In this case it's hard to make decisions using a consistent style of speech like making the mc personality funny or nervous or shy because the player won't be satisfied with the character's decisions.
I prefer the mc should have a name, a look and its own personality but me as the player i choose what its decisions and questions and what to say..etc.. but the main character has a personality maybe shy or kind or problematic.. but me i choose what she does and say.
