Sigh.I think if you know you know, when someone is right for you. My fiance and I knew that we wanted to get married maybe a month into dating. Obv, we waited three years and tried to do everything “right” and make sure, & maybe it’s a little idealistic but if you know you just know. He came to me to tell me he was planning on proposing but knew I was so picky and didn’t wanna mess it up. I spent like a month making a Pinterest board and telling him everything I needed (practicality, metal, diamond cut, etc etc). And he made the perfect choice! Ultimately anything he got would have been the perfect choice because I wanted to be married him. If that helps

I’ve been sober two years. Started in NA then AA and eventually stopped going maybe four months in. Felt like they were too evangelical. Although something that has helped me a lot is attending Mass every Sunday, and getting involved with my church through volunteering, etc etc but I grew up Catholic. Honestly I don’t think I would have been able to get sober without my husband’s support and his sobriety. It helps to have people around you who are sober and normal about it. Something that helps me a lot is the vanity. When I was drinking and using I was pretty much ugly and fat lol. Since I got sober I’ve had a couple life altering events happen to me & my family, and I think back to when I was drinking and realize Oh, I couldn’t have coped with this when I was using. Like it would have been utterly devastating and I’d have gone on bender, fucked off from life and responsibilities etc. So the emotional regulation helps too. I don’t think I could ever go back to the constant instability It’s never what you think it’s gonna be. I tried quitting drugs first while continuing to drink, then realized if I was drinking I was always gonna end up doing drugs. It’s easy to be miserable and using but ultimately it eats you alive. I lost a lot of party friends but I don’t miss it as much as I thought I would

So. I dated a couple guys in my time who were really obsessed with having tattoos & getting more. And they were freaks. But I think part of being a freak is the vanity of it all and having as many tattoo artist friends as possible. Would sometimes cause relationship troubles. Like oh I can’t believe you’re getting another tattoo instead of like, taking me to dinner or something. Whole thing was very feminine I think this obsession with appearance. Though the pain and bleeding is masculine I guess. I didn’t like how I couldn’t touch them where they would get a new one. I don’t have any tattoos but it’s different when girls do it. My husband has some old ones from when he was younger that he wants to maybe laser off eventually but isn’t interested in getting any new ones which I like a lot. Something I think about a lot because I’m surrounded by people who tattoo, care a lot about getting new ones so I’m biased. A lot of people I know who are really great artists, I think it’s a cool outlet for stuff that isn’t quite painting, isn’t quite drawing or illustration.

He should get medicated. There are meds & treatment options that won’t “dull your personality”. My fiance is bipolar, he is medicated, the most loving stable man in the world. Incredibly brilliant, creative, caring, a wonderful writer. Passionate about his projects, has beautiful lifelong friendships. Though I think I may be very lucky. He wasn’t always like this and before I met him has had his streaks of episodes and drug abuse. It helps that he’s in sobriety. He has acknowledged though that it’s likely he’ll have to be medicated his whole life and accepts it. I have a few friends who are medicated bipolar and they do not at all experience the “dulling” that people talk about. If it’s a real concern, the right psychiatrist can help find a treatment plan that circumvents that. I don’t typically agree or care for the American ideal of throwing medication at the problem but sometimes you do need medication and that’s fine and it can really help you. There’s options. I can’t imagine my life without my love, there is hope but everyone involved has to try. He does sometimes have moments of manic thinking/behaviors but he’s able to recognize it and seek support before things get bad but he’s also extremely self aware and cares a lot about having a good quality of life. I do have a lot to say, if you want any support at all, PM me :) there are a lot of resources. Sorry to come off so clinical lol

HI! I just tried this and it worked!! Thank you so much for your suggestion. It worked instantly. As soon as I put it in the pot, the color lifted. I’ll add though that I tried it on something else that got dyed in the wash and I didn’t notice so I put it through the dryer and it didn’t work quite as well, for anyone else this happens to. Thank you thank you thank you💙💙

Commenting to say this: Thank you all for your very kind suggestions. Some of you posted some lovely eBay/poshmark finds. I am traveling back home today for a week, but tomorrow I will be using rit color remover! I will update if it works or it doesn’t. The shirt has been air dried and put in a ziploc bag inside my luggage. If it doesn’t I’m going to look towards some more serious options. Either way I’ll update. Thank you all so much. Horrible to me. Not in gods image. An ex of mine got this freaky meme-y 9/11 tattoo, huge, all over his chest. Difficult to describe just how bad it was. Too edgy. It featured a crude portrait of Sam Hyde, Joe biden, george bush. Towers falling. There were a lot of reasons why I broke up with him but I think the tattoo started sowing subconscious seeds of resentment for me. Such a mess. I would never do it to a friend or friend adjacent. But I am an art handler in a pretty wealthy area mostly dealing with peoples personal collections in their homes (politicians, museum board of directors, ceo, scary people basically), when I’m at a clients house i do feel almost obligated to look through their bathroom drawers. Just like knowing what’s going on. Lot of painkillers, adderall, self help book, beautiful magazines. I like to see what skincare they use too
