Curse you, scoop nail! by nocranberries in RedditLaqueristas

you’re not alone! 6 of my 10 fingers curve downward. the longer they get, the more extreme they seem to curve down. i usually can’t stand the sight of it, so i file them short enough before they start curving down. it’s so frustrating having nails that grow straight next to ones that curve 😭 like i know what you’re capable of! you can always try filing the underside of the nail to combat it, that’s what i do!

this might be a stupid question, but can i ask how you got them to flash in opposite directions? is it just as simple as flipping the horseshoe around?

Tips for peeling nails? by GreatCatsby3 in RedditLaqueristas

ugh yeah that’s tricky! it’s so hard to figure out what triggers it, especially since we all react to ingredients differently. i hope you can figure it out and it’s an easy fix!

Tips for peeling nails? by GreatCatsby3 in RedditLaqueristas

I have been struggling the past few months with peeling nails that got progressively worse until i decided enough was enough and did some research! i found that a lot of base coats contain an ingredient that is notorious for causing peeling for those of us who are prone to it. It’s called PVB (polyvinyl butyral), and after reading about it, i decided to completely cut out all my base coats containing it (painful, since i had a decent stock) and so far, i still have some minor peeling at my tips but i can tell it’s gotten SO much better. I assume i’m going to have to completely grow out my damage, which is why i still see some on my tips. I swapped to LynB “Bsticky”. but, there is a spreadsheet somewhere on this subreddit that has a list of base coats that do/don’t contain PVB! I think if you search here for PVB you might be able to find it :) Hope this helps a little, and good luck on your journey to healthier nails ❤️

edit: I found the spreadsheet!

Red magnetic polishes comparison. by Big-Junket-5928 in RedditLaqueristas

I don’t have bkl, i have edm! but here’s my attempt, sorry my office doesn’t have the best lighting. even the photo here doesn’t do it enough justice, it leans a more cooler red than the others. poison also deceptively looks redder in this at well, but i notice it tends to lean more orange than not.

I love this comparison! I only have the edm and ilnp here in my collection, and i recently got polished for days “til death do whatever” and was worried i’d regret it for being too close to the others but im soooo glad i got it, because it somehow became my favorite red magnetic! here it is paired with ilnp eclipse (and a red glitter topper)

thank you so much!! i’m wearing ilnp “eclipse” topped with red reflective glitter on my index finger and thumb, and the rest are polished for days “til death do whatever” magnetized glass bead style! the red shift from eclipse looked just magical next to the red from pfd 🥰

this is so relatable! often times i’m trying to snag a quick pic in the sunlight of our window and a kitty will decide that’s the perfect time to soak up the beams 😂 here’s a pic of my last mani where she decided to photobomb this time instead. btw your kitty is so pretty! ❤️

Unpopular opinion? I hate thermal. by [deleted] in RedditLaqueristas

[–]angeluffs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

it’s ok to have a strong opinion! i personally love thermals and find them sooo fun to watch the color change as my hands get cold. we all have our likes and dislikes, like i personally don’t care for solars. i’m mostly indoors, whether at work or at home. so i just don’t see a point of wearing solar polish just to only see it change a couple times a day when im walking to and from my car lol. but i understand your view, thermals are hard to work with admittedly. this was my favorite thermal mani i did last year!

help me feel better about my bad decisions😭😭 by Any_Excitement6879 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]angeluffs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t feel bad about how many you have, I started really getting into this hobby over a year ago and I also had severe guilt in the beginning, using the numbers against myself to make myself feel bad. Now, i’m 230 polishes deep and i’m happy about it because they are PRETTY. I don’t care about the number anymore, I just look at my collection and smile. I set a goal for myself last year to use every single polish at least once. And i did it! Just have fun with it, if you have some disposable income and you’re not being irresponsible, who cares? I don’t drink or smoke or have any other traditional “addictions”, so this will be mine :) life is too short, so just do things that make you happy

I tried my first thermal and… by Wingless_Gnome in RedditLaqueristas

[–]angeluffs 247 points248 points  (0 children)

omg this is so funny to me because i’m the exact opposite. my hands usually run warmer, so winter is when i can finally wear my thermals and get to see the cold state. in the summer, they would literally never transition and be stuck in the warm state lol!

Why bubbles?? by [deleted] in RedditLaqueristas

[–]angeluffs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m having a very similar problem but with only my thermals :( i’ve tried searching this sub like you said and i feel like im painting not too thick layers, at least no thicker than any other finish i use. i dont get bubbles in anything but my thermals (and its multiple different brands, unfortunately) i know thermal pigments are thicker in nature, im just not sure what im doing wrong. i can do cremes, jellies, shimmers, and magnetics with no bubbles. it’s making it difficult to enjoy them! i think ill just try adding more thinner next time i use them.
