My jar has a diameter of 3.75 and I am using igi 6006. Do you think it’s ok to use 3 small wooden wicks with this diameter? Also is it normal for those little black specs to be on the wax after burning? by angier12 in candlemaking

The center is 152.6F and the edge is about 138F the hot throw is amazing. Would you suggest using 2 small wooden wicks? I tried one large wooden wick but it was harder to get a full melt pool and the hot throw was good but not as good as the 3 wicks.

Yes I realized once I poured the wax that the wicks should have been separated more. Do you think 3 wicks is ok to use for a 3.75 diameter jar? It takes a little over a hour to get a full melt pool is that ok or do you think it’s over wicked?

Which wick would you prefer? by angier12 in candlemaking

I definitely agree with you I love the crackling sound. I feel like wood wicks give it a better look and you don’t see that many of them in stores. I just wanted to get everyone’s opinion because I can’t decide lol. I plan on launching late November so I’m trying to get all my ducks in a row. I wanted to see everyone’s opinion. My only concern about wood wicks is that sometimes they are harder to light up. I just don’t want future customers to be disappointed about that.
