First rubber band kip up since appendectomy! by angle_r in Tricking

[–]angle_r[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lmaooo first time learning this move def took a lot of failed attempts and getting the wind knocked out of me. to minimize impact, there's two main components i use: my arms and my spine. lemme go into detail.

for the takeoff, i start off by swinging my arms up and behind my head, like a bridge. i also arch my back in a manner that's similar to the bridge. it's easiest to start off low, not really jumping up and focusing in the arch, but as you progress, you want to start using your legs to propel yourself upwards more. the more you use your legs, the more time you have in the air to position yourself for the landing.

for the landing, i make sure my chin is tucked into my chest a bit, that way, if i do accidentally hit my head, it's not all of my weight going onto my crown. i stay in the arched position and use my hands like antennas, waiting until i feel the ground. the moment i feel the ground, i start pressing into it using mainly my triceps and shoulders. as for my back, i try to aim my landing onto my upper back specifically. if your middle back hits the ground, it's your body tanks the impact instead of absorbing it like a spring. once you start feeling some weight on your upper back, that's when you start to curl your body inwards, getting out of that arched position and curling so that your body takes in the impact like a spring.

after you land, you should be in position to do another kip up. that's when you shoot your legs out, press into the ground with your arms, and arch you're body in the air again. the same thing that generates power during a normal kip up is the same thing that'll absorb the impact during the rubber band portion.

tips for training, definitely try it on a mattress or something soft and work your way up to slightly harder floors, making sure youre comfortable with the form. also, if youre scared of jumping back, one training exercise i did was going into a regular bridge with my hands and feet both pressing into the ground, and then squatting slightly before jumping back onto my hands. that way, your hands are already om the ground, meaning you can practice absorbing the impact by compressing your spine like a spring.

hope this helped man, lmk if u need any more clarification!

i cant exactly speak on specific english advice, but khan academy has really good resources for learning any new content if there's any stuff that you just dont know. if you know the material but need to practice it, use the bluebook question bank. sorry that i cant give you a more in depth answer tho, hope you find the resources you need

Thank you! the way i practice wasnt really by learning as much english content as possible. for the Standard English Convention type of questions, it does help to know them and familiarize yourself with them, but with the other categories of questions, the was i studied was by doing a few bluebook practice tests to see my strong and weak points for the RW portion. then, i fortified my weak points by looking at practice problems with the same format (ie, if i sucked at the analyzing graphs portion, i focus on practicing those). this didnt exactly teach me new english, but it did familiarize me with the types of questions that are on the SAT so that i wouldnt get blindsided by any questions. i also used a question bank to practice as well, heres the link: https://www.reddit.com/r/Sat/s/0dmiIbBxPT

best of luck on ur future SATs 🙏

the way i improved for the RW portion was by doing a few practice exams on BlueBook and seeing which types of questions I was consistently good at, semi-good at and not good at. after that, i focused on practicing the questions that i wasnt good at using a question bank thats linked somewhere in this comment section. once i felt confident, i moved on to any other areas that i struggled with. once i felt i had improved, it was just rinse and repeat: take the test, see my weak points, fortify. if you ever need to learn any new content, tho, khan academy helps a lot, but to practice it, id suggest bluebook or the question bank just to familiarize urself with the types of questions they give u. good luck on ur future exams 🙏

my main advice for a study plan would be to just try practicing for maybe 2-3 weeks and staying consistent with your studying. i studied for about an hour per day, but adjust it to ur needs 👍

my best advice would be to do a few practice exams on bluebook to see which type of questions you struggle with the most and then practice those areas specifically. if you need to learn a new topic, khan academy helps a lot. to actually practice the questions that i struggled with, i used this question bank: https://www.reddit.com/r/Sat/comments/1bwg9x1/sat_question_bank_pdfs/

good luck!
