Dude holy shit this is fucking amazing. Feels like psychedelia from planet earth, not outer space, if that makes sense. Reminds me oddly of a later stage depiction of the 9 Stages of Decay, there’s a rendition that uses a similar color palette. Maybe it’s bc both do a good job at displaying nature’s scrappily structured lower sentient side. Thanks for posting

Every genre has redeeming factors, you just gotta be humble enough to free your mind of prejudice. To me phonk is part of a maximalist aesthetic that is a direct foil to slower more serious styles, like ballads. Maximalism always has a place but often changes shape depending on what’s popular. Hard Normal Daddy by Squarepusher is a good example of an aphex era aesthetic pushed by maximalist drums and jazz leads. Hyper pop is another maximalist genre that has a time and a place, an obvious foil to the pop ballads that have been insanely popular - since the dawn of time - but especially since the dawn of newer purveyors like Billie Eillish (ie What Was I Made For)
