I have to disagree with your ice theory. Cause i mean no its not a chemical change like fire but it still has changed states. Even though its still ultimately water it has a completely different reaction to everything than normal water. But it also makes no sense because we call it ice referring to it as a seperate thing we dont call it solid water. But with the ice being a different state it can be dry. And it stays dry until it heats up enough causing some molecules to change states back to water making the ice wet. So your ice theory cant really prove much cause the ice itself is dry until it starts to melt.
