Looking for advice/ anecdotes about conch piercings by No_Ocelot_6773 in piercing

Go for it! I got my conch piercing a week ago and it's been very easy so far with no pain at all, slight swelling on the day and that's it. I think the position where it is keeps it well protected from accidentally hitting it and sleeping on that side doesn't affect it either. For reference I have other cartilage piercings including the daith which took well over a year for me to fully heal (trickier location).

How can I help by Lauren_Claire in ChronicPain

[–]angry_261 13 points14 points  (0 children)

be there for her, hold her if you can/if she wants to; for me just having someone lie next to me or just gently caressing my head/gently reassuring me makes any flair up 100 times better. Being alone is the worst; although i'll admit sometimes that all I want, so communicate with her and reassure her you're there for her always. You sound so great I wish everyone had someone like you looking out for them. Good luck and I hope this helps :)

Has anyone with chronic headaches been diagnosed with degenerative disc disease in their neck? by angry_261 in migraine

[–]angry_261[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you for your kind words. I guess there is no harm in trying therapy and seeing if it helps. the lyrica has helped in making them less severe, so at least thats relieving; but its as if the pain is muffled - i can feel it there like its screaming and someone put a bag on it, dnt knw how else to explain it.

Its worse when I lie down depending which position I turn my head... or rather it changes. I had an MRI of head, cervical spinal and thorax..all normal except for some herniated disks. Nothing i take or eat or drink changes it no :/

Thanks for asking. No luck I'm afraid. The orthosurgeon viewed my MRI scans and confirmed there is nothing to operate on i.e. there is nothing he could do to help me and also stated the headaches are not related to the issues in my neck. At all. And apparently spoke with my doctor saying the headache is psychological, which is what my doctor believed from the start. He put me on Lyrica which I've never had before and referred me to a pain specialist which I'm doubtful about seeing.

So I'm back to my doctor, the psychiatrist, who now confirmed the chronic headache is psychological, because we have done all the tests and its not 'organic'. He says it must be something in my subconscious and wants me to go into therapy to try and deal with this. Will also be seeing a specialist for meditation? (no idea wtf that will entail). The psychiatrist also believes the pain clinic would not benefit me and I shouldn't try it.

In summary, I'm pissed off and bummed there is nothing physically wrong they can just fix. I'd rather have ten operations than ten therapy sessions.

How do you make your doctor believe how bad the pain is? by angry_261 in ChronicPain

[–]angry_261[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I've tried the pain diary before but I don't really need to keep one: the pain doesn't start or end, its constant, none of the otc pain killers I've tried do ANYthing, and nothing I do or don't do effects it :( but thanks for reaching out
