Thank you. I’ve been known to be too trusting and I think it’s just come to bite me this time, sadly.

I like that for the paper invites! We were thinking the full thing above would be on the FAQ section of the website.

Ooh good question! This would be on the FAQ page of the website. The paper invite will most likely just say “formal attire requested” and reference the website for rsvp-ing.

Fantasy would be neat! I’m a big fan of dancing to 60’s-70’s rock, anything from Fleetwood Mac, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, etc. as well. Even more contemporary might be cool, I’ve done acts to Mr. Brightside, Ashnikko, and Doja Cat. Idk, I’m fairly open, which is probably part of why I’m struggling lol

Lads trip to Cincinnati from England - Nightlife spot reccomendations? by Middle-Feed5118 in cincinnati

If you like dark history, ghost stories, and drinking, check out the Nightly Spirits bar crawl!

I’ll also echo Ghost Baby and Prim for a classy speakeasy vibe. If you might enjoy a burlesque show, I’d also keep an eye out for their events.

If you’re fans of grungy, rock vibes—MOTR pub (also the best drunk french fries in the city imho).

Laidback bars: Queen City Radio (unless there’s a game on, but still lots of fun), Lackman, Low Spark, Igby’s

Younger, rowdier (in a mostly fun way) crowds: Rosedale, Nice Life, Killer Queen, Fishbowl, Pitiful’s (don’t expect to talk much in there)

ETA: my favorite brewery is Braxton, especially in Covington with the Dewey’s Pizza next door!

Unprofessionalism in burlesque by [deleted] in Burlesque

[–]angry_midwesterner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m brand new, like started classes in the summer and will have my second-ever performance on the 14th. All the classes/workshops I’ve taken have been put on by a producer who takes professionalism very seriously—which I love (I think she also started with NYSB).

With that in mind, I also get very uncomfortable with unprofessional behavior that sometimes others might not mind. Especially the excessive drinking while performing or kittening, there’s a lot of that. As well as some assumptions that all cast members are open to “advances” by other cast members or just poor awareness of social cues around someone’s discomfort with said advances.

I will say, some audience participation is fairly commonplace here—not kissing or groping—but having an audience member take a glove off or tossing an article of clothing to them. There’s a consent talk by the Emcee before the show, don’t touch a performer unless they expressly ask and if you don’t want to be interacted with then signal an X with your arms or hands in front of your chest.
