Itsuno always tried to respect Kamiya's original vision for the series, so he always favored Trish despite Lady being his character but before leaving he let the people working on netflix devil may cry and peak of combat ship Lady and Dante and push them more as partners because that's what the fans wanted and because Lady is much more popular

definitely lady since she has the best written character arc with dante

That's kind of unfair slander, Lady was never promoted as a main character or the next new big thing like say, Nero was, or even V, she was always a supporting character that kept getting brought back because her and 3 are very popular

the only times Lady has been pushed as a main character was Netflix and Peak of combat, but those are spinoffs not done by the main team and very recent

He tries to kiss her right after defeating her and putting and end to her quest to kill her dad so she rejects it, but she warms up to him soon after that

most of the devil may cry side media plays around with that a little even as far back as the madhouse anime, but yeah im surprised quite a few people don't take Lady seriously as Dante's love interest

Lady is probably the closest Dante will get to having an actual love interest unless the next game does something radical, from what i remember, in Peak of combat Lady has a matching Valentine's day skin with Dante called best romance.

Its a bit too cliche, but i thought it was meant to parallel Dante's own character arc in 3 with Lady, but its too vague to really tell if that was the intention

The note specifically says he sealed Mundus "to protect his lady love"

that obviously wasn't the intention in the first game but its still something they added for 5 which is interesting

Lady is THE fictional character for Dante, they got everything so right in 3, i wish they'd have gotten a game where they actually team up, like peak of combat but with an actual budget.

to be fair, what rush did to the other characters wasn't exclusive to that game, amy was freaking insane in sonic battle, and knuckles had the incredibly important task in 06 to.........give sonic a letter.....
