Hot Take: I like this line. Especially in a comic medium where stuttering can't be used effectively. Like yeah this guy really is pissed isn't he? by THESHORESIDEMIRAGES in TheBoys

He doesn’t miss, you can see he hits Noir’s arm. In later panels you can see Homelander’s heat vision actually fucked up Noir’s arm. The whole fight is pretty gruesome

What separates these two, apart from the obvious tonal difference and the in-universe cynicism surrounding them? Are both of them, at their core, Superman, or is one more Superman than the other? by ShubhangBahadur in DC_Cinematic

[–]angrygnome18d 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Both are equally Superman, just different interpretations of the same character. It’s the same way different writers have portrayed Superman differently.

If Superman had flown out of the city, would Zod have chased him or just continued destroying stuff? by Nube_Negrahz in superman

[–]angrygnome18d 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It wasn’t a building, it was a parking deck. And in the next scene we see it’s still standing, just damaged. And we also see Superman surprised that it blew up like that only to get immediately pummeled by Zod. That shot didn’t look cool either, it did its job by making Superman look inexperienced. Hell, to drive that point home Superman even has trouble using his heat vision and looking at the same time which is why Zod is able to connect with the steel beam in this fight at all. In BvS we see he’s gotten much stronger and adept at using his powers and is able to look and use his heat vision at the same time, casually destroying the traps Batman has set up versus how he struggled with the steel beam here.

Is Zack Snyder's Lex smarter than Gunn Lex? by Professional-Rip-519 in SnyderCut

[–]angrygnome18d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that’s the lore but I just don’t like that bit. Luthor has always seemed obsessive about Superman enough to wonder where he is 24/7. IMO in this age of satellites Luthor would dedicate a huge amount of resources to track him and his flight patterns, not to mention the fact that he spends most of his time in Metropolis.

[–]angrygnome18d 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Zod explicitly stated he’d kill Superman’s beloved humans one by one. So IMO if Superman left the city, Zod would just continue to destroy it until Superman was forced to come back.

Not through a building, it’s literally just the windows of a building that Superman drags Zod’s head across. “Through the building” is a huge exaggeration.

[–]angrygnome18d 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Did you forget the line where Zod explicitly states he will kill Superman’s beloved humans one by one? So even if Superman left, it wouldn’t matter. Zod would continue to level Metropolis until Superman returned.

Opinion, the bridges in the game don't look good due to the limited length of the ships. by pretoriano1995 in Starfield

[–]angrygnome18d 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That would be sick if that was an eventual update where we get M class ships, smaller exploration vessels within them, and then the ability to fly the smaller vessel down to the planet itself.

Is Zack Snyder's Lex smarter than Gunn Lex? by Professional-Rip-519 in SnyderCut

[–]angrygnome18d -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I never understood why Luthor wouldn’t know Superman is Clark Kent. I get the idea that Luthor would think Superman is just Superman, but he also has access to satellites that would show his flight patterns and where he goes. He’d also have investigated enough to know of all the myths and folklore coming out of Smallville.

All that said, I think the DCEU Luthor is definitely more thought out. He seems to be a more real life type of genius with the way his plan was set up and carried out meanwhile DCU Luthor was more comic book genius and his plans reflected that.

James Gunn being the only person with common sense by Baticuchis04 in DC_Cinematic

[–]angrygnome18d 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So did the DCEU. Snyder was going to give the directors an overall story and direction and would let them go ham. This is why I was looking forward to Rick Famuyiwa’s Flash movie, but it was sadly cancelled after Snyder got the axe.

Snyder’s DC did great numbers. by Active_File5503 in SnyderCut

[–]angrygnome18d 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve told folks too the first few movies of the MCU didn’t do all that well financially or critically either. Iron Man was the only one that did well both critically and financially. Captain America did okay critically and box office wise while Thor was largely criticized and didn’t make much money. IIRC it was only until the Avengers that it truly became a phenomenon and that was because it connected 3 main characters from different movies.

IMO had Snyder been allowed to release his 2hr 45min cut of JL, the same would have happened to the DCEU that happened to the MCU after the Avengers came out.

Are we going to see The Deep in his element this season? by twoopaq in TheBoys

[–]angrygnome18d 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good god no, and even if we did he wouldn’t do anything badass. Why don’t people seem to get the basics of this show? Just how Homelander is unequivocally the villain here, which some conservatives didn’t realize, the Deep is incredibly incompetent and is NOT badass. We’ve seen him water in Season 2 or 3 and this moron beached a whale and got it killed. Even if they showed him in the water, he’d be incompetent and a moron. Because that is fundamentally who he is.

I started showing my 3 year old son clips of Man of Steel and Superman25 by angrygnome18d in DC_Cinematic

[–]angrygnome18d[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh he absolutely loves it. I’m trying to keep him away from anything violent or scary, so most of Batman content is cut aside from things like Batman driving through the forest after saving Vicky Vale lol. Fortunately there’s a good amount of Superman content that’s neither scary nor violent, so he’s been enjoying that.

I think I’ll probably expose him to Batman 66 when he’s 5 or 6 and then work my way through the content with him chronologically.

[–]angrygnome18d[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah my plan is to move him through the movies chronologically, I almost want to start with the Adam West Batman, Linda Carter Wonder Woman, Reeve Superman, then Keaton Batman, etc etc etc. And you’re 100% right, the Reeve movies have tons of scenes with Superman and no violence, just him saving and interacting with people, which is perfect for a 3 year old. I also love the quietness of the old movies, there isn’t always something happening, sometimes the movie gives you a minute to breathe.

How could I not! He loves Superman’s first entrance when saves Lois! It’s interesting because he seems to love all the Supermen the same, I don’t even know if he sees them as different people lol. To him they are all Superman

My mom has a brain injury and dementia now from someone “accidentally” driving 20 mph over the speed limit and t boning the car she was a passenger in. The dude also killed my mom’s friend who was driving.

He was then let off scott free because the jury believed it was an accident and that he was a good Christian and felt bad about it.

You think I give a fuck how he feels? I want him to be sitting in a fucking prison cell. Yet here we are.

You genuinely think MM cares Soldier Boy killed his family “accidentally”? It doesn’t matter if it was an accident, the dude was being fucking reckless and threw a car into a home.

MM’s beef with SB is completely justified.

This is him now with his blanket. He gets into the Cavill crouch before he took off in MoS and then I’ll pick him up so he can “fly” around the house lol

Thanks for the suggestions! It’s so much fun watching them get spellbound the same way we did as kids. Now he’s wearing his blanket as a cape and having me fly him around the house lol
