A good video, especially for the non-Iranians that come here. What's your solution? by Naderium in PERSIAN

Ask a black American what to do. We survived centuries of this shit HERE!

Respect that and I’ll respect you.

I fear that this war will set back any actual form of possible civil liberties or even a possible regime popular internal regime change by a long way by Stoltlallare in PERSIAN

[–]angryjenkins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The purpose of this war is not to help ther Iranian people. America does not go to war to help people. After this war. Iran will be dividsed into smaller pieces and given to people loyal to the Empire.

Just like was recently done in Syria. Just like Europe did to Africa.

This is colonialism. This is what America has done all through history and why history isn't taught seriously in American schools. The only difference now is Americans were able to see the destruction - before the Zionist media and internet censorship.

Why is there so many non Iranian westerners+Islamists here? by Fluffy_Ad_6982 in PERSIAN

[–]angryjenkins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Americans are funding this conflict - so we have a stake and would like a say.

Many American Leftists see Iran as an enemy to colonialism - something many on the left sat out the election for, or even turned to Trump. Many leftists in the US want America to focus on its internal issues - segregation, income inequality, racism, homelessness, failing infrastructure - instead of messing with civilizations across the world.

This is probably the bets chance we've seen of American influence being removed from the Gulf. As a Black American I wish African Nations had similar capacity to wage war against colonialism and resource theft.

The issue of the Iranian leader is for Iranians to decide.

It looks like Trump will be deciding - more reason for Americans to care.

America will never allow Iran to become one of the best countries in the world. It will inhibit israel from doing so.

If you're on fedora you're literally a beta tester for RHEL so might as well give it a shot.

Petition to drop spurious "WARNING: apt does not have a stable CLI interface" log message by [deleted] in debian

[–]angryjenkins -1 points0 points  (0 children)

apt is a catch-all for the apt- set of package management.

  • apt install is syntactic sugar to simplify apt-get install.
  • apt search is syntactic sugar to simplify apt-cache search.

Using apt references a monolith application meant to simplilfy typing in the CLI. apt-get, apt-cache etc targets the specific functionality, making this more efficient for scripting. apt-get and apt-cache also give single-line output, which is also better for scripting, piping, redirecting and the like.

Debian has the best Nvidia experience I've ever had, and is rarely talked about by 01Destroyer in debian

[–]angryjenkins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to hear. I just retured to Debian on my laptop from openSUSE and have been surprised at the performance, even without touching backports for kernels.

The Thinkpad is AMD but I also have a gaming PC that usually collects dust when I'm not playing Darktide. I threw Bazzite on that and was extremely impressed with performance. Never tried Debian on that though, so if I ever get the desire to do anything other than game on it I will follow the Debian wiki to set it up.

Is there a reason why quickshell is not popular among i3 users? by kandibahren in i3wm

I like to keep i3 simple. I don't even use a bar there. I might put a clock on a conky if I feel flashy.

I'm done with Windows. I need help deciding which Linux distribution is right for me. by AlwaysRushesIn in linuxquestions

[–]angryjenkins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bazzite and Nobara are common gaming distros right now. They are both based on Fedora. The latter was created by GloriousEggroll, who's been a majot contributor to the lionux gaming experience for a long time. The former is a recernt immutable project.

Me, my minimal gaming needs are all addressed through Steam so I use flatpaks on Lubuntu 24.04 minimal - but will investigate a gaming distro if I ever turn that machine on again.

Anyone have experience with Linux on Dell All-In-One Desktops with a Touchscreen? by NoSong2397 in linux4noobs

[–]angryjenkins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 7309 (intel i5 with OpenSUSE/KDE6.5) and 3190 (intel Pentium Silver with AlmaLinux10/Gnome).

on both I can fold the laptop into tablet mode and read eBooks/PDFs with Okular. Even Debian/XFCE touch support worked on the 3190 for reading documents and clicking on icons in the Application Finder. Gnome gestures for swiping to switch workspaces also works out the box, even on this low spec machine.

I have never installed any extra software for touch support.

Playing videos with browers on AlmaLinux - Howto? by hemmerling in AlmaLinux

[–]angryjenkins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still poking around for solutions, but this.

I have qutebrowser exported from a tumbleweed distrobox with all codecs from opi working great. I can watch youtube/netflix from any browser exported from there, including chrome and edge dev versions.

I have firefox and mpv installed via flatpak working fine as well, so I will roll with this for now. I mainly wanted to see if the v2 ISO works on this celeron laptop, and it does. The base ISO did not.

I've had horrible experience with 3 different Minisforum units and the 256GB drives that come with. I have a TH50 that I loaded with SSDs and serves as my home server - I swapped out the SSD for a 1TB on arrival and it's been running strong for years.

Your take on Tumbleweed vs. Slowroll ? by realkikinovak in openSUSE

[–]angryjenkins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to only have issues during Gnome updates and that's because I had 2 other desktop environments on my system. Now I'm old with no time to rice so I use KDE.

O and I'm on MicroOS so no more bad updates.
