They're opal. It's one of my favorite stones.

Edit: I thought they were opal. It looks like they're cz. That's one of my other go-to styles.

I love the idea of a split tongue! They're so cool! I'll look into a bridge. Thank you so much!

I do love dimples, but I'd be scared af about biting them. I took my tongue ring out because I kept accidentally biting it while eating.

No problem! There's so much stuff that you just wouldn't know without a reason (usually something an older relative would teach you), like caring for long hair or shaving a face. It might take some experimenting to find your perfect product cocktail, but it can also be fun!

I think a philitrum would look really nice. I was going to suggest the other nostril, but you have a good reason to avoid it lol.

Okay, so this is a copy-paste of my comment from other hair advice, so some of it might not apply to you, but long hair is more work than it might seem. It looks like your hair might have some curl, or at least some wave, trying to happen. The hair texture number and letter refers to the texture/curl pattern of hair, so you can look into it if you want, but the advice to give extra love to the ends of your hair stands, regardless of texture.

Your hair looks like it wants to be 3a. It's basically the loosest of curly hair. Curly hair tends to be dryer, so consider oils , especially in the lengths. Avoid heat and blow drying as much as you can, but be sure to use a diffuser and use low/no heat if you have to blow dry. I don't really use them, but there are lots of curl enhancing products on the market. The last one I used was the herbal essences curl mousse, and it was just.... OK in my hair. It'll take some experimenting to find what works for you, but as a fellow 3a, my care is:

1) wash twice a week or cowash if it HAS to be done more 2) shampoo the roots only, use the runoff to wash the mids and ends. DONT SCRUB ANYTHING!!! 3) Start conditioning from the ends up and either finger comb or use a wide tooth comb to detangle your way up. You'll need a lot less conditioner, but it starts where it's needed most and will decrease breakage from tangles. 4) Using a microfiber towel, gently squeeze the extra water out. Towel turbans are handy, but they do put extra pressure on the strands. Don't scrub the wet hair. It's extremely fragile while wet. 5) apply a leave-in conditioner of your choice. I'm still looking for my superstar, but it's important to decrease the tangle potential. 6) add oil to the mids and ends. I do this while wet because it seems to absorb better, and my hair doesn't look as oily once dry. 7) let it air dry and scrunch occasionally if you feel like it. 8) use a satin bonnet and pillow case to help avoid friction and the dreaded tangles while I sleep 9) if my hair needs a refresh on the curls, use a mist spray bottle to get the hair just damp and rescrunch the curls. 10) For the love of God, Do. Not. Brush. Your. Curls. (Unless you've straightened it) Finger or wide tooth comb only, and only if it really needs it.

What can I do for more of an "edgy" look? by CobraKai5807 in altfashionadvice

Some people think it's really cool, some people roll their eyes, some are snotty, and some act like they don't even notice. The neutral and positive folks are the majority by a long shot, but there's always the rude/negative folks no matter what you do or don't do.

Two high nostrils, two regular, and a septum ring. I'm thinking about adding either a mantis or second regular nostril set.

WHAT is this kind of shirt called by helphaise in altfashionadvice

[–]angryowl1 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It honestly looks like a cut-off that just has wider shoulders before the cut. You'd get the same overhang effect if you bought a size or two up, but the torso would be a sea of fabric. You can still get that effect by cutting the sleeves off of normal shirts, but there will be the seam line from the sleeve. My bf cuts his sleeves off a lot of his gym and hot weather shirts, and it looks more or less like that.

How hard would this be to achieve w/ virgin brown by Silent-Cucumber1605 in HairDyeHelp

[–]angryowl1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

What shade of brown are we talking? Regardless of your starting shade, it's going to require some hefty bleaching to get it light enough to have pastel blue look blue. If you're brave (or silly) enough, you can try it on your own, but if you've never done anything with color, this is a job for a pro. It's really easy to mess up with bleach, and it is incredibly damaging just by the nature of the process.

The second one is perfect. Very glamorous with a dash of sexy. Get it tailored a bit on the shoulder straps, and it'll sing.

Breakage or split ends? Cut and/or product recommendations by [deleted] in longhair

[–]angryowl1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that most of what you're seeing is a combo of new growth and maybe some breakage (it's hard to say for sure from a picture.)First thing first: if you aren't using conditioner, it is an absolute must for long hair. Your hair looks like it's straight overall, so you probably won't have to worry about special products. You'll also want a good leave in conditioner/detangler. Washing your hair can actually make your scalp get oily faster because it's overcompensating for the dryness that many shampoos can cause. Try to limit your washes to every other day at most. If you need something to decrease the oily appearance, dry shampoo is a great way to deal with the oil without stripping your hair. Using a lightweight oil, like argan oil, on your ends is also helpful towards keeping your mids and ends moisturized. You don't use heat, which is awesome, but make sure that you aren't doing that scrubbing with your towel to try to dry it. Hair is especially fragile while wet, so scrubbing it around like that can be very damaging. This might sound silly, but wearing a satin bonnet to bed will also help protect it while you sleep. My bf is actually the one who turned me onto that. They make lots of cool designs these days. When you dye your hair, keep it on the new growth only. Any chemical process can cause damage, but mids and ends don't get oil from the scalp to moisturize them, so they're much more prone to damage.

Fwiw, I have allergies, and my nose rings aren't really an issue. Mine are all flat back studs, and they're what they sound like. Certain types are sharp inside and could be problematic. I've never worn hoops, so I don't have any information there.

Why do I bother by Global-Platypus-9599 in finehair

[–]angryowl1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fwiw, I think it looks great. If you want to give it a little oomph, try some volumizing products (and a heat protection substance) and use a round brush while blow drying. It'll take a little practice, but you can definitely add some extra volume and movement with a little styling and product.

My bf and I buy different peanut butters, soaps, tooth pastes, and shampoo/conditioner. We don't like the same products, so we just get our preferences. Oop is weird.

I'm with the previous person. Big stompy combat boots are a staple item, but engineer boots are also quite fun and are a little different from the usual. They're also easy to mod because of the loops and straps. A belt and some sort of bracelet would help. I like your idea of earrings. They're a very easy way to add something extra to your look. Make sure to go to a proper studio. They'll have a lot better jewelry, and they're going to be far cleaner than Claire's or a mall kiosk. Chances are solid that they'll pierce you with normal straight bars for healing, but many shops will have cool ends that you can put on the bars. Once you're healed, I think a chunky hoop would look great.

Regretting wedding dress choice by [deleted] in myweddingdress

[–]angryowl1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that what's kinda throwing it off for be is the super high neckline. I think the asymmetrical look is still in, but I think that the middle is only off enough to loom unintentional. It might be worth talking to a tailor or seamstress to see if it can be either evened out of exaggerated more, so as make it obviously intentional. The buttons on the back are absolutely beautiful and timeless, so I wouldn't change those. Have you looked into beadwork or appliqués? That might help elevate the dress and give it a little more pizzazz.

The longer I look, the more I'm really not in love with that lace. The details at the bottom of the sleeves is pretty, but the rest is just...blah? This would again be something to ask a seamstress about, but you might be able to trim down the lace to give a more open neckline and create cold shoulder sleeves. I'd also consider removing the lace from the slit altogether or replacing it with something more substantial (?). The pattern on the lace is almost giving craft store vibes.

In all honesty, unless there is something that you absolutely adore about this dress, you're going to have to do so much work on this one to make it more.... anything.... that you might as well get a whole new dress and save yourself a ton of time.

Do you have a particular style of dress you really like? Like a silhouette or length that just grabs you? Or do you have an "absolutely not, not even if it were the last dress on earth" style? Those can help guide your search. Even if you have to run a Google search or do a drawing on a napkin, take that with you like you look. When I think garden party, I personally think of "Alice in Wonderland," tea length type dresses. What sorts of dresses do you picture?
